16570 for a 114270 (Exp 2 for Exp)
A bit later today I’m swapping my 16570 for a 114270 . Great watch but it’s time for something new , looking to get some cash ontop too .

Think I’d definitely want to get some cash on top, especially if you’ve got a polar. The 16570 is in high demand right now.

I have the black 16570 , it has papers and the green tag . Was thinking around £500 pound cash ontop , I think that’s fair . If it’s a straight swap it doesn’t make sense you’re right. Thanks for the input .

If you're used to wearing the 40mm 16570, I think you'd love the 214270. The 214270 is frankly superior to the 114270 in every way with one exception - the size. And that is debatable depending upon your tastes. I also know that some people don't like the Explorer text at the bottom of the dial versus the top but I actually prefer it.

I had a 214270 and didn’t care for the proportions. Too much dial, IMO. I traded it for a 114270 and love it.

I have both modern explorers.
Exp II is perfect for me. Subtle, brushed steel, dial contrast is perfect (polar) with the orange GMT hand. And the GMT function is always great. Although the size is felt on the wrist towards the end of the day. The Explorer, however, has the full package. It is the watch the has the most wrist time it of my collection. By a country mile. The size is prefect, the weight is prefect, the disk is prefect. I just love this underrated watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I swapped my 16570 for a 114270 late 2018 and it was the best decision I could have done. It was an even swap.
The 114270 M serial number was what I got which has the Rolex Rehault and I think is among the last years they made them. I seen these versions always north of $5K. I would suggest you go for the latest made as much as possible. When I had the 16570 mine was circa 2003 and it had nice lume and white dial. The bracelet is identical to the 114270 with SEL and locking clasp. I like to glance at my watch and instantly tell the time, but found the GMT function was distracting. I tried for a while to get acclimated to that extra hand but for me at least it just took a while to register and decipher that extra hand being the 24hour one. Than the cyclops which to me at least makes it hard to tell the date unless you actually twist your wrist an extra couple degrees to see the date. The magnification makes it so you have to be looking down at it directly to tell the date vs. just looking down at it in any angle. I want to be able to look down at my watch and tell the time regardless of the angle while wearing the watch. The 114270 offers that. I can be driving, typing, and most activities its pretty easy to see the numerals and tell the time. good luck on your search for 114270! |

16570, a watch with a GMT complication, a date, and extremely undervalued at this time for a watch that really has none of those things? No way.
I like the Explorer, it’s one of my favorites, but not over a 5 digit GMT in this case.
