5-Digit GMT

I have a small watch collection. My three favorite watches are my Tudor Pelagos (Blue), Rolex SD43, and my Rolex GMT Master II, ref. 16760, "Fat Lady". This watch was purchased new in March of 1988 for $1615.00 and had a Jubilee Bracelet on it at the AD. Not knowing much about Rolex at the time, I liked the look and made the purchase. I returned to my AD a few years later to purchase an Oyster Bracelet, I think back the it was around $300.Years passed and I had a family to raise so no new watches until recently. I found the TRF and ended up with the Tudor and SD43 in the past several months.

One of the things I have discovered is that my 5-Digit GMT is still my favorite. It is comfortable, as are the Tudor and SD43, but it is also very versatile. I have been able to source the Black bezel insert as well as a Pepsi. So with the inserts and the 2 bracelets, I can come up with 6 different combinations.

Currently going with the Pepsi on the Jubilee, since I won't be seeing one at my AD soon.

The 16760 "Fat Lady" never came in a Pepsi variant. Just Coke.

But, whatever floats your boat. :)

I am aware of that. Right now the Pepsi combo keeps me away from my AD trying to get on a 10 year list for the new version.

How do you enjoy the thicker case? I've heard the 16760 case is comparable to the Sea Dweller's. Is this true?

What's the bracelet reference? Did you have a difficult time fitting the Pepsi insert to the watch?

I do not find that at all. At least compared to my SD43. MUCH smaller.

Jubilee ref 62510 H with 502 end links, The oyster ref 93150.
The Pepsi insert was real easy, but be CAREFUL and have the right tools. There are videos on the swap if you search.

I meant it is the same size as the 16600, which is the older generation Sea dweller of that time period.

I have the same options with my 16710.
It was my first Rolex and still my favorite despite the many I’ve acquired since, hard to beat the 5-digit GMT for an all around watch.
Based on recent prices to obtain one I’d say the secret is out.

I totally agree, my first Rolex was a GMT Coke. I now have several other watches, but the GMT’s (I have a Pepsi as well) are by far my favorite and feel the most comfortable as they are versatile.

OP, did you service your watch at some point? The dial and hands have super luminova indicating they are not original.

The 16760 is marginally thicker and the caseback is marginally thicker making it slightly visually larger, but wears the same as a 16710. Going from memory from when I had a SeaDweller of the same era (16600), I recall the SeaDweller being much more top heavy and measured between 13-14MM tall (with crystal and thicker caseback). The 16760 hovers around 12MM...

The striking visual differences between the 16760 and 16710 are that the crystal sits higher on the 16760 about .15mm above the bezel insert, the minute hand is slightly thicker, and the winding crown appears smaller because of the larger crown guards.
