!!!!GRAIL Has Arrived!!!!

Please bear with me as I tell a little backstory.

If you would have told me that I would own this watch at this time 2 years ago, I would have laughed at you. I didn't think that I would ever been in a financial position to buy one. Funny enough, I lost my job a week before Christmas in 2016. I am a CRNA and I had owned my own business providing 24/7 anesthesia coverage for a small hospital and employed 2 CRNAs. I had done such at the same facility FOR 16 YEARS!!! The hospital got a new administrator, and he felt that he needed a bigger anesthesia group with more resources, so he put the contract up for bid. I lost the bid. I was DEVASTATED. Without getting into the details, there was some history with the new group coming in, and none of the 3 of us were interested in working for the incoming group. This was partly due to the fact that they were offering all of us a 20% pay cut.

After being in the same job at the same facility for 16 years, I honestly wasn't sure what I was going to do. I felt that my life was over. I didn't even really know how or where to look for a job. Well, a long story short.......One of the guys that worked for me was friends with an Anesthesiologist that owns a rather large anesthesia group that runs around 50 contracts at different facilities. One day, the owner of this group called me and offered me a job with his company without even seeing my CV. We had a mutual friend with integrity and that goes a long way with some people.

I went to work for this new group and was offered a promotion within 3 months. 2017 was a very good year for me, and I made around double what I had made even in my best year of being self-employed. Now, I worked very hard, but that was part of the reason I rewarded myself with this grail.

Sorry to be long winded, but I just wanted to give you a bit of a backstory as to how much of a sacrifice I have made in the last 18 months. I worked between 60-70 hours per week all of last year with the exception of 1 week off to establish my value to this new company and the administration. It has paid off for me. My wife gladly consented to my reward.

I remember when I used to drive down the 605 and 710 freeway I would see the Platona on Bhindi billboards.

What a beautiful watch, but how could I ever afford one?

Funny how time and good karma can change things :)

Congratulations on a well deserved trophy!

The ultimate example of a hard-work-pays-off story. Immense congrats on this one. Very well-deserved!

Despite this, I was still somewhat hoping to see a rebreather but had to laugh at myself after seeing the incoming box was only 3 lbs.
