Dinner with mr journe along with some well known collectors.

Certainly the most magnificent and earliest example of a resonance I have ever and will likely ever see.

Owned by “thejourneguy” thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience this in person.

For all the watches that are climbing in perceived value the chrono bleu imho makes the most compelling case for itself !

On that note thoughts on split seconds in Ti? Too big? I want one but keep thinking they might do the bracelet without rubber soon.

How about the last Edition Resonnance with 24 hr dial? At 78k? I love this watch but cost seems high, am I right?

Haven’t worn this in a while, but absolutely love when I do put it on. 38mm is just such a great size for Journe IMO, and I love how versatile it is- can be a dress watch or worn casually. Today I’m dressed like a slob and loving it. Hope in the future FPJ goes back to smaller watches.

38mm to me has always looked better, a subjective view I know. The thinner bezels just make for a better looking watch.

Beautiful watch.

Yes, the retail price doesn’t reflect how they sell second hand.

This year’s Resonance, with the 24hr dial, may be more rare in terms of production numbers but I’m not sure how much that will help the resale.

I wouldn’t be a buyer at retail, or anywhere close to it. But, one never knows how things will go. We don’t know how many of them were sold or how the future demand for the Resonance might be given the new 2020 Resonance. It’s possible that this 24hr Resonance is one of the most limited runs (maybe less than the Ruthinium which trades strongly although it does have other features collectors seek).

A tad too big for me for sure, but still no overhang (as there are no lugs to actually overhang!). But I have a small wrist, 38-40mm is the “right” range assuming lugs are not overly long.

The other visual factor is that the watch looks huge, by that I mean the dial looks huge. It is obviously 2mm larger than the original but I’m not sure if the dial is actually in fact any larger. But visually, perhaps because of the bezel again, the dial seems much larger and hence looking down at one’s wrist it seems like it’s a really large watch.

Agreed, it's really hard to justify buying at retail when I can get one from WatchBox or another reputable used dealer with a 1 - 2 year warranty for much much lower. I am in the market now for a Resonance and plan on waiting until the new version is released to see if that pushes pricing down slightly. Could pull the trigger now but I know I'd be annoyed if prices immediately trending down after lol

Thanks for the input. Life has not allowed me to visit a journe ad at all the past year. Haven’t seen one in the metal.

And Watchbox is premium pricing too; at list on their asking prices. April 2020 is the new release, at least that’s what being said right now.

This years resonance was not an easy one to source as allocation sold out many months ago... it will definitely be more limited than the Ruthenium resonance, and as a 1 year model, is sure to do well in the future, especially with the new Resonance likely to be priced higher at retail than the current version.

This will help lift the aftermarket prices of all Resonances. To be honest, any Resonance at $45-50K in the aftermarket is a steal... so much watch for the $. For most collectors, the Resonance is the #1 or #2 most important FPJ to own, so if you get a chance to add one, do it :)

The 24 hr resonance is quite a departure from the classic as the dials dont maintain the symmetry which i believe is an important and significant aspect of the complication?

I am curious to see the next iteration of this watch.

I have noticed that the # of resonance for sale from the usual sources have nearly vanished. Perhaps it is a sudden surge of collectors or the sellers are sitting on them anticipating a meaningful increase?

I am anxious to see where the market goes for this one.

Just seeing this, I have had no personal interaction with this model?

I do very much appreciate the smaller 38mm size.

Long time owner, but I’m not sure I’d be a buyer for “any Resonance at $45-50k”.

It would make sense that there are less 24hr than the Ruthenium, even if I’ve seen a lot of the 24hr around. I’d still bet that there will be more of them available for sale in the future than the Ruthenium.

Agree on the symmetry. To me this 24hr dial is a dud, it doesn’t work. Either be symmetrical like the originals or clearly different like the “parking meter” Resonance.

Agree on inventory too. Dealers have put them back in their drawers, the market is incredibly dry. Of course one dealer likely has a significant stash. Buts that markets, and if you can control them good for you.
