I think that based on the age of the watch, the case is in better condition than many other other GMTs from the same era. The case can always be "tuned up" if you choose to get it back to original condition.

I don't have to tell you that 54-year-old sets that haven't been cobbled together are an appreciating commodity and very tough to locate these days.

Haha yes it would be interesting to see what happens. According to my research that watch store in Okinawa does not exist anymore. I think it was located on/ near a US army base. Not about to tear out that page though ;-).

I agree with JP's assessment of the case, it's clearly been polished but not overly so and remains thick and well defined. The sides look straight and the lug holes are free from the kind of softening that develops with repeated polishing. Very nice watch with lots of character and a bunch of papers that hit the "turn on" switch for many who are into full set collecting. A new dial can always be sourced, Mk1 dials don't grow on trees but they are not super rare either.
