Good points Mike. Come on guys how many times do we always refer to the date wheel/magnification on fakes but yet there is none so far on this thread. I mean look at the 2 on his date wheel. Notice how Rolex has that little mark at the flat part of the 2 at the end. Im looking at my 216570. Looks pretty much the same and I dont even have mine blown up on a picture. Just with my naked eye. Looks fine. Even the magnification. But again I know we are all beating a dead horse here when the movement needs to be checked for complete authenticity. Im just trying to make the OP breath a little better until he gets the movement checked out.

Well, i am glad to see that things are turning towards fagin. In any case, a look at the movent seems in order.

In the future, i will be careful with picture magnification. Even a genuine Rolex suffers under the microscope!!!

Okay. Well I am wondering why you would ask. Usually when you purchase a watch of this magnitude you'd have to be certain that it is real. I own the GMT2C as well. At the time it cost $7,250 US. I would never lay that kind of money down on something I wasn't sure was real. Of course I only purchase from AD's so maybe it's just me.

So, why are you unsure of its authenticity???

He bought it used from a private seller off eBay. Wouldn't you if you had? He'll get it checked out and all will be fine.

I certainly believe that the harsh flash is not making this any easier for anyone. It's always better to use natural light, since the colors are truer and the shadows less pronounced.

Let no one say TRF isn't thorough in our assessments.

Another good point Mike. You are on a roll. Lol. Everyone lets give Fagin a break. Hes been very forthcoming with all his info. I think hes sincere and is legitmately concerned. However Im sure all will end well.

Fagin dont worry about what others have said on your earlier post. Is that the only reason you started worrying to begin with?

I have one as well. Just checking all of the intricacies mentioned above.

I've read but not taken as gospel that most of the time it's the handstack. Most of these counterfeiters have gotten down the LEC down to an art, and even the rehaut engraving as well. Even the fake movements has the full balance bridge with the circular graining decorations and the colored gears as well. Unless there is a new breed of superfakes coming out, I'll say it looks pretty legit.

But as everyone says, the ultimate test is to crack the caseback open and check.

Congratulations on your acquisition.

Don't worry about popping the bracelet. You've jumped through enough hoops already.

The only sure way to tell is to look at the movement. My watchmaker says that he's seen some fakes good enough that he had to look at the movement to tell.

This of course doesn't mean yours is not genuine, only that since the movement is the surest way to know, you should just relax and get it done ASAP.

Then you can really rest. I think you've been victimized by ultra-macro photography and and a too-harsh flash.

It will be nice to see one of these scenarios work out for a change, a good way to end the old year and start the new year off. Happy New Year, everyone! May this section be full of stories like these with an honest person and hopefully a happy ending, and not the usual variety that starts with a crock and ends with a banning.

Very true indeed, but I probably wouldn't waste a second to post to the forum. I'd be running straight to the car to my local AD for verification. At that point I'd know which one it is. However if the AD was closed you'd bet I'd be on here asking the same thing.

well, at least the paperwork and the rehaut serial match, so that's a good sign.
But in most GMTIIc pics the AR on the cyclops is more pronounced on than on your pics, your watch looks as if there is no AR at all.

Your GMT is legit, have no worries... Looks just like an early generation

Clasp/inner clasp is spot on, usually replicas don't get the inner engravings/print right, it's just silver.. now that matte/bead blast finish, hand stack looks good..

Thanks for all the comments and fingers crossed it will all work out well. Hoping the local Rolex repair shop (3miles away) is open on Monday and not shut until the new year, must be somewhere that can have a look for me otherwise I can see me in the garage with a screwdriver !!
Cht, what is the AR ?

Anti Reflective layer. It is only on the cyclops.
