Where would one go about acquiring an authentic blue bezel? I think a sub with black dial and blue bezel would look fanastic

A modded Rolex comes out fine . . .

Oh my god.. the guy made a mod and everybody is having a heart attack.

So many threads with people sporting leather straps that are NOT OEM.

Others showing Bamford/Mad paris heavily modified Rolexes that have that sweet $80 Swatch look that every Rolex owner wants.

People also use Thomas Preik clear casebacks and no one says anything.

All those guys complaining here they feel intimidated to call a Bamford a replica. But they are confident now to pick on you.

Leave this guy alone.

I think the watch looks good. Later down the road who knows.. you can find a bezel or dial from the smurf and replace it. If you feel like it.

;)

The bezel insert's numerals are centered differently - so that's something you might ask the replica maker to replace with a better one. I get that you like the blue dial/bezel color and saving time/money is an advantage to you.

But can you see the downside of building replicas? I don't think you'd try to dupe anyone in a future sale but it is the reason TRF doesn't condone fakes.

To OP: You are enjoying it, and it fits within your desired budget. Congrats! That's all that counts.

For me, I wouldn't do it. I think if I wanted a watch that *looks* like a more expensive watch, I'd probably spend a few hundred on a good replica. But that's me. On the other hand, I can see that you still have a real Rolex, with all of the quality that comes along with it. It's just modded to look a lot like one that is made with a precious metal. It doesn't bother me. Glad it works for you.

I think it looks great - I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I love the color blue, and in this instance you get a blue dial with the durability of steel. I've admired drhr's collection for a while now (especially that green reverso), and see nothing wrong with this. I recently modded a Speedmaster - it wasn't to everyone's liking, but I did it for myself, not anyone else.

You have multiple royal oaks, pateks, Lange, etc.......
And you cant drop 23k on a smurf?

Cmon bro. It's ok if your on a budget and trying your best to have a smurf, but if you have the means and are using fake parts.....

That's like owning a 911 and having a kit car Lamborghini that's based off a Pontiac Fiero.

I have no problems modding, where it goes sour is using fake parts trying to make it look like an authentic. (Slapping an M5 badge on a 528)

I'm fine with it, not my money or watch. Find a sunburst and darker blue bezel then

Enjoy your new watch!

appreciate the input though, since there's apparently 2 sides (at least) to this whole thing, which i have to say has been fascinating to experience (serious here)

OP, the watch is cool but in the end you have nothing, not a Smurf or a Sub. Authenticity matters. If you don't agree then you'd be better served on a replica forum.

I see the rude reactions of those who see the downside of building replicas for sure . . .
And you're right, I'm not even gonna try to sell this one for the reason you mention but, much more importantly, the fact that it's elicited the most comments of all the watches I've owned so far, what's not to like

LOL, What a stupid reply, Is a Bentley with a custom paint job a poser and no longer a Bentley? Its only a watch and it looks great with that dial and bezel insert.
