Genuine 1680 bezel?

All

Interested in views on the attached bezel pulled from a 1680. I’ve seen a few bezels that match this font and ‘squareness’ of the vs. slightly rounded inside of the numbers on the side closest to the dial. Could it just be that the proper pip fell out and someone shoehorned an incorrect metal-surrounded pip in its place?

Post count is 9, will add pics to a reply

Thanks. Agree the pip looks like it's from a 16800, but bezel insert itself was on a 1680 (sizes are not the same between 1680 and 16800). I just want to make sure it's not an aftermarket..

Of course. As stated, it came off my 1680 so my concern isn't fit, it's whether the insert is genuine or aftermarket.

Outside -- 36.4, inside 30.2 pretty spot on for what you'd expect for a used 1680/5513/5512 insert.

Genuine 1680 bezel?

High likelihood it could be a $50 aftermarket insert or just wrong for the watch.

I had a similar situation when I bought my 1984/85 Tudor Submariner. I spent $500 on the correct 80’s insert. You could spend $500 on a 80’s insert, much less on a service replacement. What year is your watch?

It makes the watch if you ask me, having a nice bezel insert.

Edit, that looks like the bezel I took off my watch. The 40 is the same. See how the numbers don’t follow the bezel being round, they look funky/wrong. I tossed mine in a spare parts box, I’ll find the pics for you. It could be fake.

Bingo. That’s it, thanks for the validation as aftermarket, I may just chuck it...

My red is a 3,3xx,xxx MKIV that I had plots relumed on (long story). I put a mid font insert on it because i wasn’t sure how I would take to the re-lume so didn’t want to spring for a proper MK3. But I’m happy with it for now. Was a true mess before.

The insert I have, I tossed it in my spare parts box. I don’t know what it is so I don’t know what to do with it.

Who did the relume? That’s basically the same insert I have. I just had my Tudor relumed, hands and dial were a mess as well. You can look at my history and see the before pics. A correct perfect dial would have cost me $1200 but I am not worried about it, the way I look at it I repaired the original watch and now it is alive again.

The watch looks great, enjoy the watch. Keep it and use the money left over for a Mk3 insert or possibly building your collection. That is what I am doing. All my watches aren’t perfect but they are mine.

James Hyman in the UK who is excellent -- i didn't want to take any chances given the 1680 dial.

I know of James who is well known on Omega boards because i also own a few vintage Seamaster 300s

Highly recommended
