bagging the Birkin

Not sure if this has been shared before. It's an interesting podcast about a few people setting out the get a Birkin Bag.

With all the speculation and theories that Rolex is taking a page from hermes on managing the desirability of SS models, I think this is a relevant share.

The Rolex secret code seems to be ask about the Daytona after agreeing to purchase a DayDate.

I looked at a Birkin once. The missus said she would divorce me if I bought one. Crazy money for a purse.

Birkins are easier to attain than Rolex these days.

Very true.

And I will tell you - once you’re in the ‘door’ you’re in. Regardless of wherever you are in the world.

Last Hermès boutique we were in was Montreal - and I went in and simply after saying your name - they knew your ‘history’ etc from your acct.

And they have NO problem turning people away.

I've been flat out told this by an AD.

That was my plan too, when ready to buy a DD40 I'll buy from an AD and try for a DaytonaC in one go

I can see why buddy. Man purses aren’t really a thing in Arkansas are they?

But why bother unless you can get a discount on the DD. You won’t save much.

I’ve been eyeing a WG DD40 lately but hilariously don’t have the nerve to ask my AD for a proper discount like I would have a few years ago. Seems like now by doing so you lower your standing in this obscene market.

Are you factoring in the added perks of buying from a AD (e.g., Diet Coke)? Those things add up.

If the cost is relatively equal (pay big premium over gray for DD, big discount to gray for Daytona) then I'd rather buy from an AD. And yes, the diet coke is crisp, lightly caffeinated and not to be discounted

They are in Los Angeles. I went to the auto show in November and at the Subaru exhibit you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a dude with a man purse.

Well you never know when you’ll want to pick up and move to LA. Have to stay prepared.

I can’t help but think of this scene in office space. “$h!| no man, I reckon you’d get your ass kicked”

What? Lol good lord I can’t even stand carrying my wallet let alone a purse. I use to always laugh at my brother in law when they lived in Brooklyn he ended up carrying my sisters monster purse by nights end 9 times out of ten

Well, you definitely don't need a purse to live in Los Angeles. I lived there for 7 years and never once owned or desired to own a man purse. But I have seen this trend there in spots in recent years. It is not something that I understand and it is not a look that I have ever had any desire to emulate.

That's funny.

I was shopping for an anniversary gift for the missus. She's content with her LV, which turns out to be a good thing.

My wife is a collector of high end bags, I am always shocked by the offers on her Birkins anc LE Chanel bags. More appreciation than most watches.

Were they Asian? In Asia, it’s very common for men to wear purses.
