Paul, your room is finally ready. If you have any special dietary needs, be sure to bring a starter supply with you. Also, bring a chainsaw and work gloves/boots. If you're flying here in your F-18, you'll have to land in Fargo.

Pretty much done with the lower level. We were going for a rustic cabin in the woods look. This is a small office off the main family room:

I see you don't have the bars on the door and windows for his stay yet.

Safety first.

Hey Joey, remember me?

Hope you're doing well. Love the pictures. Also love the terra-cotta warriors, got one of those in my office at work.

Beautiful deck. Is it three season, or can you add storm windows to use it in the winter months?

Where does the grill go?

We can add windows at some time in the future, but for now, it will remain a fair weather porch. We would have to enclose the floor too. Right now, there is bug screen under the plastic decking floor. I watched fireworks from it last night and there wasn't a single bug. We have a slab on the ground level about 15 feet below the screen porch for the grill. Apparently, they are called grilling porches on HGTV.

Slowly but surely, they've been removing the construction equipment from the garage, and I've been able to start setting things up. When empty, I'll be painting it white. In this harsh climate, I cant mud or tape the sheet rock due to cracking and breaking. But the white walls will look good.

Almost everything against this wall will be removed. I have a really cool vintage Monaco Grand Prix poster to add to my garage art collection.

Looks awesome Joey. It's always interesting to see how houses are built differently in different parts of the country based on weather. That is some pretty harsh winters where the tape would crack out. Here in Montana it is fire code that all garages are at least fire taped with tape run on all joints.

It gets pretty cold here. The coldest air temp I've seen since moving to this part of Minnesota was -52 degrees F below zero. -30 yo -40 is not incommon.

You can't warm a house with beer, mate. I recommend drinking it first.

This is the second load of 100,000 pounds of boulders for the rock retaining wall which will support the fill required to do the driveway. They are angular, and the main rock contractor, who has been building rock retaining walls for 30 years, places them like a puzzle along the side of the house and driveway which needed to be raised about 6-7 feet with fill.

Video of Semi Dumping 50 Tons of Boulders

This portion of the landscaping will take 2-3 more days.
