Service cost breakdown/Value added to watch - 1999 GMT Master 2
Hi all, looking for some advice.
My father has passed down a rolex to me and my brother that was gifted to him a number of years ago. Moderated content My question is when they mention "necessary" costs does that mean these are a MUST or they won't touch it? I don't understand the wording as underneath it then has optional costs. Moderated for content Below is what I received back from the service centre : __________________________________________________ ___ Good Afternoon, We have received the following estimate from Rolex for your watch: Job Ref General Condition: Bracelet scratched and very worn, Link section not intended for this model, Case back marked, Bezel marked, Case marked/digs/dents, Bezel insert marked/discoloured, Glass lightly scratched, Crown marked/dented, Specks/marks on dial. Please note, refurbishment will be carried out best possible. Necessary Work: Full Service: £585.00 Bracelet: £1000.00 Crown: £45.00 Total: £1630.00 Optional Work: Bezel Insert: £45.00 Total including optional work: £1675.00 Time Frame 5/6 weeks from proceed Parts supplied are on an exchange basis and Rolex reserve the right to retain all parts changed. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Kind Regards Sarah Repair Administrator Last edited by Tools; 22 June 2018 at 05:59 AM.. |

Generally, "necessary" work is what they insist on doing or they will not service the watch. "Optional work" is at your discretion.
However, I have never seen a bracelet listed as "necessary work"

It seems worth it. Not sure about the bracelet though, could you send it without and find another expert...?

Probably, but I don't see what is strange about it. Previously it was his Dad's watch and now it has been passed on to him and his brother so he has taken action regarding the service. Since there was not one reply to his post a couple of years back its reasonable that he posted again.
