DMX was certainly a talented rapper. I wonder if the dogs he abused will be waiting for him at the Pearly Gates?

RIP. DMX @ Woodstock '99 is one of the greatest live performances you'll see from a hip hop artist. Mic / DJ / Stage / Crowd, simply magic.

Most likely a fake headline. I could be wrong but doesn’t sound real.

Interesting, Tom Arnold comments on when they were filming their movie, DMX would always come around with some new stray dog he found and would take it in to care for. Regardless, I doubt any human on earth is the perfect model of society in every aspect of his/her daily life, but alas there's always one perfect person prepared to enlighten us, bottom line, I think there is a time and place for certain discussions. But goes to show that such perfect individuals who have deemed themselves the enlightener don't seem to have the basic understanding of that concept which in itself shows the kind of person they are.
We all live in a glass house, all of us....

His most popular songs are Party Up and Ruff Ryders Anthem. X Gonna Give it To You was made popular again by the movie DeadPool.

His first 3 albums you can listen all the way through without hitting the skip function. He's somewhat like Pac in the sense of he does an amazing job of conveying his PoV / feelings of his own experiences and making you experience them yourself. Just be warned may not be suitable for all audiences. Many of his tracks are FANTASTIC to work out too.

Sad to see all the folks idolizing this guy. Really is unfortunate this is what the world has come to and who folks actually praise, idolize and grieve the loss of. My take, c'est la vie. No real loss. I’ll choose a lot of other folks to idolize and this guy isn’t one of them.

Legal trouble

DMX's June 2008 mugshot
DMX was in jail 30 times[70] for various offenses, including robbery, assault, carjacking, animal cruelty, reckless driving, driving under the influence, unlicensed driving, drug possession, probation violation, failure to pay child support, pretending to be a federal agent, and tax evasion.

I don't understand RAP, the culture or the appeal. I guess I am too old or too Rock & Roll. To each his own, but regardless... 50 is too young to die.

The thing I'll remember the most about DMX is the utmost humility and respect he showed upon meeting Rakim for the first time.

Was he plagued by demons or have issues his entire life 100%. I like his music singularly.

This sentiment always confuses me. "Rock & Roll" is one branch of musical evolution that originated from Robert Johnson. "Rap" is another. Rock and "Rap" are first cousins musically.

It always baffles me when musical genres are treated so tribally. The origins of and inspirations for music cross all genres. You would be blown away by the eclectic tastes of your favorite musicians! Only the fans get tribal.

Rap started as the Blues of its time, just as did Rock and Roll. They both evolved to become deeper along the way.

There is way too much good music in the world to silo yourself in any genre as though it defines your musical taste. Being stuck in one genre of music seems like a possibility for hell to me.

I get what you're saying, but I still don't get RAP. I love blues, jazz, rock, alternative ( to a degree ), country, and many others, but I have found nothing about RAP appealing. I have tried.

Years ago, my former roommate was a DJ at a Hip Hop club, he tried to sell me on the genre... it did not take.

It's just a personal opinion... If others like it, great, good for them.
