pannie owners: crystal scratch

hey guys. i got a scratch on the crystal of my less than a month old pam48... ouch... i hit the doorknob and i thought that it was nothing since the crystal is sapphire. wrong... there's now a scratch that i can't feel but can see.... bummer.. it's really annoying... how do i get it off? how did it scratch in the 1st place since the crystal is sapphire... thanks... just for curiosity sake how much would a replacement crystal cost? I figure the scratch must be in the anti-reflective coating (????) but i could be wrong...

if u cant feel it, it's very likely that u scratched the AR coating.......you may have to change the crystal

I guess its used for polishing stuff I only found that link a little while ago when I thought my crystal was pitted.

I found this on ebay, though:

Hey bogey - how big is the scratch? Do you think you could live with it, maybe once you've gotten over the grief of hitting the watch... the scratch wont matter as much?

Just a thought. Although I know from my scuffs on mine, they still bug me lots.....

Used in metallurgical applications as well as for other things. Here is a supplier:

http://www.tedpella.com/polish.htm

You can also get diamantine powder at places like Otto Frei.
