44mm Submersible is back!

They look amazing, the complaint was they used the p900 which is a Baume and Marcier movement. Panerai also stopped decorating the movements. I love Panerai but at this price point it is a hard sell.

The P.900 is too small for a 44 mm watch. The caliber is tiny, only 12.5 Ligne or 28.19 mm. It's a movement made to fit in ladies watches. Looks ok in a 38 mm Due but once you put it in a 44 mm watch, the dial design is a mess. Nothing aligns. Date and small seconds at 9 o'clock are to close to the center. IWC has the same issues with this miniature movement.

The dial layout is ok in the 42 mm version though but see for yourself. They tried to optically correct the awkward position of the date window by adding facets to the aperture but it didn't really help imo.




The P.9010 would have been the better choice but obviously the P.900 costs Panerai a lot less, so instead of downsizing the 47 mm version, they simply blew up the 42 mm watch.

As always thank you for your insight. We are all here because we love Panerai ,we just hope they listen to our complaints.

Thank you! The position of the small seconds at 9 o'clock was much better with the ETA 7750 which is a considerably larger movement with a date window where it should be.

I think it's 13.9 mm, same as the 42 mm version. Keep in mind the little movement has a thickness of only 4.2 mm so they could have made the watch much slimmer but since it must look bold, they made the dial extremely thick.




The Submersible QuarantaQuattro line reminds me of those huge American 1950s cars in Cuba that are powered by small Russian diesel engines

The original Rolex-Panerai watches from the past were massive because they were pocket watches for the wrist. Form follows function.
