Wearing Rolex while playing golf or wear a golf watch ?
Anyone wear a Rolex while playing golf? I feel it would be uncomfortable I suppose a golf watch or one of those active watches would be a better option?

Lots of people do. Should be fine if it’s comfortable. I wouldn’t gold with an AP, Patek or other high end hand made watch though. IMHO. Those movements don’t like impacts very much. Especially multiple impacts.

I always put on a quartz watch for golf. The constant jarring and vibrations is not worth it.

I have tried it before, not very comfortable at all.
Probably not good for the watch either. JasTPE |

I used to always wear my watches for everything but decided it wasn't worth it for things that generate impact or excessive vibration. So I use my G-shock.
My motorcycle makes my hands tingle after an hour or so so I'm guessing that the watch feels that vibration as well. And golf and tennis swings probably transfer vibration as long as you're actually hitting the ball. If you're just tramping through the woods looking for your ball, perhaps it's not an issue. I realize Rolexes are tough but at the cost of servicing, I'd just as soon use my G shock for this type of sports stuff these days. I'm sure there is lots of anecdotal evidence that Rolexes can take it but I don't bother anymore. |

I read and heard that even a small amount of weight on the lead hand / wrist can affect the downswing and alignment. I wear my DD and BLNR all the time while playing golf - never any problems. |

Ya I don't think it's worth wearing a Rolex to golf the more I think of it

I've previously worn my Rolex and Omega's onto the course without noticing any ill effects.

Your watch can handle it. Whether or not you want to wear it is up to you.

I don't like to golf with a watch on, unless it needs a good winding!

If you're serous about your sport you wear sport apparel and a dedicated sport watch like apple or Garmin. I never were an automatic watch to any of my sport activities. It's like going to the Gym in tuxedo.

I used to wear a nice watch while golfing, but it began to become uncomfortable. Now I just wear a g-shock to the course and take it off. I figured if my bag ever got stolen, losing a multi thousand dollar watch along with my clubs would suck.

I won’t wear my PP or AP, but would wear my Rolex and Tags. I used to wear my ExpII when I had it but my DSSD is too big and when I did it my wrist hurt!

Hell no, no watch when golfing
Anecdote from not too long ago: I met a lady friend on the course with her datejust. I asked her if she wasn't afraid it would be damaged by swinging. She very seriously answered that in case of damage, her husband would switch batteries. |

Never a Rolex. I have worn a Garmin golf watch the past 3 years and love it. I don’t like the rangefinder.

I would never wear any of my mechanical watches golfing. I have an old quartz Tag that I wear when I golf so I don’t have to worry about the impacts and vibrations.
For what it’s worth, Phil Mickelson was wearing a Yachtmaster 40 during the tournament at Pebble a few weeks ago. I guess if I didn’t have to pay for my watches I’d be a little less risk adverse! |

I have played literally over 1000 rounds of golf wearing a Rolex. Either a Datejust, a GMT Master, an Explorer II as well as a Tudor Black Bay have all seen multiple rounds. All continue to work flawlessly. No issues. If you want to wear one, then I say fear not.

any weight on my wrist throws off my swing so I don't wear a watch. Omega released the titanium ones which are super light and built to take the shocks but I see no reason to wear a watch playing golf.
