4% Price Increase already (before June)?

Got the call from AD and the price quoted is ironically 4% higher than what the official US Patek website indicates as the suggested retail. Therefore, in this case, they have already implemented the discussed 4% increase before June. While I get it, I also wasn’t sure if Patek allows for this as I believe there are price guidelines they must adhere to. Thoughts?

Watches of Switzerland said they were waiting for new stickers and new prices would come in to affect within the next week or two.

Curious if they actually do. Usually a retailer price increase would be aligned with (if not after) the manufacturer’s official revision of the suggested retail price provided in the website and/or other marketing materials the end buyer refers to.

Feels like a money grab from the AD while pricing is in flux, in that the watches the AD has received from the manufacturer are not 4% more expensive (yet) however they (this particular AD) is prematurely quoting the end buyer the revised price to obtain a ‘free’ 4% increase in profit. It is a low brow tactic. Feels very petty to me and reflects poorly on the brand (and the AD, but that is a given).

They can raise prices 15% for all I care - as long as they actually RELEASE the watches to the ADs

Don't worry about that now, you have the warm comfort of a very nice market price to lean on.

To the OP it really make no difference if AD going to do the low brow tactic of charging you the extra 4% now for you to get the timepieces today .......

or

They could just put the timepieces in the safe until June 1st and call you after June 1st with the official 4% price increase .....

As today market AD win......

So take your pick or go else where.....

I rather save 4% than piss it up in the wind. Im paying next day as soon as I hear from my AD given the price hasnt increased. Locking it in, in full payment before pick-up will be quint-essential for me.

Who cars about a 4% increase?
Hell a 50% increase in Nautilus doesn’t mean jack.

It has been promised to me since November 2018.... They just havent received it yet. Or they have received it but holding back as the increase is around the corner.

If they tell you they have it after the price rise, will you pass?

Have had the experience with other scarce items where even a 100% prepayment doesn’t guarantee the price upon delivery (perhaps a year down the road). Meaning that when the call comes, the new, then current MSRP would be effective. The delta is paid upon delivery.

Strongly disagree with a PP AD charging a price higher than the MSRP at delivery date, though.

But how will you handle it?
Walk away empty handed?

Agreed. If you buy for the long-term the current market prices are pretty meaningless in the end. The only thing that really matters is the cash you spend getting the piece. I was happy when my 5711 arrived in 2018 but felt a little unlucky that it was just after the 20% price increase - I am wearing the same watch but have 5k less in my wallet.

Suggesting it wouldn't matter if Nautilus MSRPs increased by 50% is nonsense IMO unless, of course, you will be flipping in which case you might still make a handsome profit...

If I was the OP I'd get the piece but certainly express my unhappiness in the process and consider taking my business elsewhere going forward, depending on the quality of the relationship and history w the AD...

Nope. I'll still grab it because I have my eyes on it and I've somehow already created some sort of emotional attachment to it by scouring Google Images a few times a week for it.

That being said, I'd still love to save $X,XXX.

Yeah it would be about a 4.5% increase here in the states and I’d prefer to save the $2269 too! I can do a lot with that... or eat a lot with it

And it's better than all other pizzas around the world. Can't wait to come back (minus the garbage smell) in the Summer.

Yup! I got a hold of a list of the new prices but all the prices are a few dollars off for some reason. For example the 5711/1r says $53,299
