I was this close to buying a Tudor BB, but then...

I found out it was close to 15mm thick. That's too much, and I am disappointed.

Likewise. I like everything else about the watch but 15mm is way too thick for my wrist.

I have a very small arm (6.5" / 165 metric) and wear some thick watches (Tudor Pelagos, etc.) and do not even notice. Even the weight of a heavy watch is of no concern.

All a matter of perspective, I am guessing.

Or are the people concerned with thick watches folks who wear suit jackets that need to ride over the watch (not me, no how, no way; I am long ree__tired now.)

I have a 7.5" wrist and own an Omega PO, (16.5mm thick) that I wear all the time, but it's a 600 Meter watch. The Tudor, which style and dial and bezel I love, is just too thick for its otherwise simple look. Too bad, I like everything else about it.

Have you tried the watch on? I believe the domed crystal adds to the overall thickness. The ETA versions have a very flat caseback, so if you have a flat wrist they wear very well, IMO.

Ok, if it does not work look to the 58, a great watch and with the size that might work for you.

What’s wrong with the 58?

I understand. If I'm tying for like 8-12 hours I will wear my daytona. The BBB is an amazing watch, but the 14060 is likely the ticket.

Nothing wears quite as nice as a 5 digit rolex (or daytona) in terms of 24/7 comfort.

I had a chance to try some Black Bays on at an AD recently. I was focusing on the BB58 and it felt and looked very good (proportion-wise) to me. The Black Bay (not the 58) looked and felt thick to me. The sides of the case looked really large. I have a Sub41 and as comparison I think the look/feel on the thickness is:
BB58 < Sub41 < BB

Not all Tudors are that thick; as suggested above the BB58 (available in black and blue versions) is 11.9 MM in thickness, take a look at your AD

I tried on the BB and the BB 58 at my AD when I took my Sub in for a service in the summer of 2019. Although quite surprised by how tall the BB is that didn't bother me...I just don't care for the snowflake hands on both watches. Just my 5 cents worth!

I've tried on the BB58 several times at this point and have to agree that it's just a tad too thick for my liking. The problem is not with its absolute thickness, but the excessively high "side walls" and relatively thin bezel up top. For me personally, I think if the thickness was distributed between the wall and bezel (more in line with the proportions of subs), the overall height would be more bearable.

Never tried on one but I’m not sure it would be a dealbreaker. Sometimes mm matter on paper more than in real life.

If you have tried it on and it’s not for you, no big deal. Plenty of other great Tudor options as mentioned above.

I think you just mean the BB as opposed to the BB58. The BB58 is less than 12mm thick.

I was this close to buying a Tudor BB, but then...

The Black Bay ETA (discontinued) are 12.5mm thick if that helps. They still have slab sides but almost flush case backs. Personally 13.5mm thickness is my upper limit and still doesn’t feel unwieldy.

Also if you really want, the black bay 58 is a significantly smaller watch. Alternatively the Pelagos is a deep diver that is thinner than your Omega and punches through its price class.

Is the Pelagos thicker than the BB ETA ?

My Heritage Black Bay 79230N is perfect. The thickness + weight is parked quite comfortably on my 6.75" wrist. ( I'm 5'10 and 175, and my wrists are just very average. )

The deal breaker for me - almost without question - is the dial.
This model @ 41 MM is perfection.

The BB58 is just a sliver under @ 39 mm and hence a bit too small on me.

I also have a Shinola Argonite Runwell @ 45 mm and honestly it's not getting much time on the wrist anymore.

Does anyone else think they may discontinue original size BB now that sub is 41mm?

I am very similar in size - I have the BB S&G, it is a little thick, but it doesn’t bother me that much. I too think the 58’s might b too small. Have’nt been unable to try one on though....

I find BB's beautiful from the front (standard wrist shot), but the two times I've tried it on, the "side walls" just seem too thick in context to overall proportions. As posted in another similar thread, I don't think the problem is the absolute thickness, but rather how it's distributed between the side of the case and the relatively flat bezel.

That being said, I guarantee there will be 3rd and 4th attempts of trying it on... given how great they photograph.

it is pretty great looking IRL (my wrists may be a bit thicker than flatter?). It just isn't as svelte as a 5 digit, but then again, it is sometimes nice to wear something with more presence.
