I agree. The thickness definitely gives presence. Given the BB's popularity, it's obvious that I'm in the minority of potential customers here. To be clear, I don't think the thickness is unacceptable (I can without thinking rattle off half a dozen other watches that are), but just find them to be a tad too much for my own liking.

I’ll give you a bit of perspective with a few different watches compared to the BB. My wrist is probably 6.75 or so. I thought the blackbay was awesome, just slightly thicker than i wanted. I was obviously thrilled when the bb58 arrived. Bb58 is perfect for my wrist.

I was this close to buying a Tudor BB, but then...

The Pelagos is thicker than the BB ETA.

The ETA Pelagos is 13.5mm thick. The in house Pelagos is 14.5mm thick.

I have been wondering this myself. With the massive success of the BB58, I could see them bringing more variants to that scale and winding down the 41mm scale cases.

I'm 5'11, 180lbs.. Never thought the BB was too think. Still works well with a suit or dress shirt.

No, I'm definitely referring to the BB58. Though maybe 12mm thick on paper, for whatever reason, I find it wears real thick. For reference my wrist is just shy of 7". The photos posted here are screenshots of a video taken at the jeweler.

It's surprising that I left with this impression, because I'm no stranger to dive watches, having owned PO's and now a sub.
EDIT: PO's being the 1st gen with 2500 Omega movements. I can't wear anything 8500+

Man, can’t say I agree at all. I owned a Sub and the BB58 wears way thinner, akin to my DJ41. It almost doesn’t feel like I’m wearing a sports watch at times.

I like the thicker Tudor’s. Bought a BB Bronze and love the size/thickness.

What you have in your pictures, is not a BB58.

A BB58 has rose gold accents on the bezel. Also, the BB58 has a smaller crown with embossed rose. Not black inlay.

What you had on your wrist was a regular black bay black with in house movement. A 41mm watch

Try it on. It’s a great watch and mine takes a beating. I’m 6’4” and 260 pounds though so not really worried about lifting my coffee mug with my watch arm.

Wow... I believe you are correct sir. This was shot at Tourneau where I specifically asked to try on the BB58. I suppose the SA didn't know any better and had me try this on and explained several times how this (BB58) has been selling well for them, etc. Apologies for creating confusion here. I now have the itch again to hunt an actual BB58 down and try it on in earnest.

I thought of the BB58, but I prefer the 41-42mm size, and I wanted the Tudor manufacture movement. I have a feeling the movement dictates the case thickness, however. I didn't get anything else yet, so I may have to wait for the next inspiration.

This reminds me of all the times I've gone to buy a car and known more about the packages, options, features, etc. than the guy selling them to me. Should never happen, yet it does all the time (and clearly across industries as well).
