problem....

heres my problem....i have one more watch i want for my current collection...and i don't think I'm kidding myself in general...i mean only one more kinda expensive watch....it will cost me 6k bnib.....the deal is that i was going to wait until this property sale went through before i rewarded myself with the watch...long story short, the buyer whom i know well, really wants the property, has the loan, blah blah...was supposed to complete the sale last week before i left town, but his wife is a 'new' attorney....long story short she didn't get it together correctly on the docs and they had to be redone and i had to go out of town, so now the plan is that it completes when i get back....heres the rub.....the place i get my watches is out of town and i won't be back there for 5 months and i want the watch now and the sale is 99% to complete next week....do i get the watch or do i wait? ......

Just get it. By the sounds of it all should be fine. Worst case you have an extra 6k out of your bank account for a while until the deal is done =)

Get it! You will regret it if you don't. I have hesitated on a watch purchase before and by the time I decided it was to late. I'm still kicking myself for not making the purchase.

Get it if you have the funds. If the funds aren't and may not be available then wait. If you have to have the proceeds of the sale to complete the transaction, wait until the transaction is complete. What if something does go wrong and the buyers back out?

Will they ship you the watch after the sale goes through?

Hey Dr Tom
since it's so easy for me to spend other peoples money, I say buy it and have the watch shipped to you. If they won't ship, I would wait to pick it up.

If you buy the watch, the deal will find some strange way to unwind. I would wait, but I'm slightly superstitious.

Which watch are we talking about?

Anyway, I don't see why you should wait just because your friend let his wife do the work, rather than hiring an expert to do the job right.

I am completely out of phase with you, Jason. I am not above taking risks when the result is almost a sure thing. I would get the watch now and assume the real estate deal will go through.

Put it in perspective, you could get an oil change and routine service for a Ferrari for around 10K, or your watch for 6K. And since you probably don't own a Ferrari, you decision is simple.

I did the same when I was selling a skydiving rig and was going to the US where I get my watches from a trusted seller who ships to my hotel. I never did sell the rig but, no worries!

Get it mate - sounds like you're on solid ground with the sale!!

In fairness....we're probably the worst group of enablers to ask!

I would wait, I know it is against all of the other comments, however I have had more sure thing fails than most. Regardless if money is not a concern, if the deal falls apart you will hate that watch!! IMO anyways.

As long as you have a roof over your head, food in the fridge and money coming in get the watch.
Life is far too short and can come to an end in the blink of an eye.
As long as buying it won't break you go out and get it, enjoy it and don't forget to post pics

If it's a good enough deal consider it as an investment.

What's the watch? Is it a deal that can't be found next month?
