Vintage! I was looking for information on an old Bulova movement that I was taking apart for fun, and stumbled across a site with some nice vintage pieces. I started scrolling through the pages, and found this very nice Wittnauer from 1948......I just had to have it as I LOVE the dial.

I plunked down my credit card, and bought what I think is a very nice watch. 10k gold filled case, and it's in great shape apart from some damage on the case back.

Note the shaped crystal........very nice.......

And now the wrist shot........

It has a hand-wound 17 jewel 9WN Swiss movement (at some point I will crack the case and take some shots). Don't know the beat rate off hand but it's slow based on the sound. The movement doesn't hack, so it will take some time to see if it is losing or gaining any significant time.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one.......

Nice Al. I wish I had smaller wrists because there are so many good deals on vintage pieces... which all look rather puny on my wrist.

Looks to be in very nice condition! Very cool!

Quite a old company think they started in the 1870s I read somewhere around the first world war time they made the world’s first waterproof, shock-proof, anti-magnetic watch.And Amelia Earhart the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic,her aeroplane had Wittnauer cockpit clock.So a company with lots of history.And they were one of the first companies to start to mass produce wristwatches,instead of the normal pocket watches in the 1900s,ready for the American market.Thats very nice vintage watch Al,look
forward in seeing the movement,believe it was made by Longines,when they was still making in-house but not 100% certain.

Beautiful watch Al. I have a Wittnauer also. It was given ti me by my grandfather and it was his father's. He told me that my great-grandmother gave it to him for a special occasion. I wish it weren't so small so I could wear it once in awhile. My hands and wrists are too big and the watch would get lost.
