Sorry to hear about your experience. It's bad enough to have something stolen, but then to get it back and it be damaged. If I were in your shoes, I would have done the same thing, because I could never enjoy my watch (or whatever it was that was stolen) ever again because just looking at it would be a constant reminder of the theft.

If insurance paid on the claim, it is now owned by the insurance company as salvage. Might be able to negotiate with them with them however. They are not in the business of owning and selling watches.

The process is you contact your insurance company and reimburse them. You are right that they are not in the business of reselling recovered property.

The police do not know, nor ask, what you did with your insurer.

That's great news! I'm sure it will be back on your wrist in no time at all!

My question is...was it stolen while on vacation in Las Vegas? How was it stolen if I may ask? I live in Vegas part-time, and am always curious in the ways watches are stolen out here?

My case was different in that I recovered the watch myself and it was never impounded by the police. But I will warn you it was a major hassle reimbursing the insurance company. They are geared up to payout on claims and not recollect claims. It took me about 2 months to get them to take my money and contact Rolex to have it removed from their "stolen list".

stolen rolex found

That’s interesting you had a problem with the Insurer and Rolex. My case had the police recover 1 of the 4 that were stolen. I had put all 4 of the watches on the stolen report with Rolex personally.

As soon as the recovered watch was returned to me, I called the manager in NY, sent her the FAX and boom it was off the list. Then I mailed to to the NY RSC where it’s getting the full spa treatment.

Each case has its wrinkles though. Now I’m just hoping the RSC receives my Platona, DD and the Ladies OP that had been my wife’s. Those could be totally different cases because there will inevitably be 3rd parties involved (like the thief’s unwitting buyer).

We will have to celebrate with a Welcome Home party! In the meantime, it is good to know that your baby is safe! What a blessing!
