Look at that dial, and the huge hands (I think they are now proportional to the dial hour markers), that is a great look, congrats to Rolex

the UK MSRP will be £5170 when officially released, that's probably the MSRP before the price increase... (if there will be one in October...)

I don't know the RRP exactly in Australia it is about $8,900.
In the USA it is around $7,800 or so....
DavidSW, Bodybump, Mosco or JustRolexes are the go to guys IMHO

Kvikk how about a photo showing the relative thickness? It looks like the new EII could swallow the old one whole!

done a quick measurement today, the 42mm EXPII case & crystal thickness is "about" 11mm (based on the iPhone app )

I guess it isnt that accurate then, unless im wrong isnt the gmtc and subc around 11 as well? close to 12?

im assuming the expii casing is thicker then the gmtc and subc

thanks for the pics so far!

No idea really. I should confirm that the 11mm is the end to end measurement from the case back to the crystal.... (including the bezel in between...)

Don't care for the chopped look on the partially blacked out hands on the black faced version - makes them appear ever more fat and stubby. Bad call there...should have left them white gold right to the stem...looks odd....the all black hands on the white face appear much more in sync...and ROLEX did this to sell a 'floating hands' look on the black face version....is that for real..? All of ROLEX attributes in designing a watch and 'a floating hands look' was approved by their design team...?

wait for the new one! and then some more months for the price to settle down... from some pinoys who have them, it is priced higher than both the GMTIIC and SubC (ie. full SRP)!

Loathe as I am to say anything even remotely bad about my beloved 216570 I'll be honest......
& as much as I LOVE my watch I actually agree with you & I'd rather have had 'white gold right to the stem' instead of the whole 'floating hand' thing.

But then again I'm sure any one of us could pick holes in the loves of our lives if we wanted to.....

I am so happy to be an owner of the classic Explorer II! It is my only Rolex in a collection of Omegas, Fortis and Sinn watches. I have always liked the EXP II white dial. Cheers, Bill P.

Great pic's everyone and the black dail version absolutely looks sweet!
Just one minor thing, I like the brushed parts on the shoulders better in the old diagonal way like on the former Explorer II. Strange they now go for the same direction as the brushing on the bracelet. Somehow the diagonal lines acdent the form of the watch case in a nicer way. Just my two cents though and still love the look of the new Expy II.
