I prefer Vacheron Constantin, but I bet this poll will come out heavily in the favor of Patek, which of course is a remarkable brand with many many nice watches. But there is just something about VC that speaks to me, many great lines such as Patrimony, Les Historiques and Quai de l'ile. I really hope to get a VC some day, then I can exit the watch hobby gracefully

Both makes wonderful masterpieces and are considered to be some of the best brands in the world of haute horlogerie but I have a preference for Patek Philippe.

PP all the way, but a VC Overseas is a wish list watch.

PP. To me it says a lot that it is family owned and not by a large group as VC.

the design and styling on PP is over-rated IMHO....and from what I have read around on different blogs and forums...i generally don't like patek's attitude towards the ownership of their products. I believe that VC has the same build quality and heritage...but it just seems that Patek goes to the extra mile in trying to milk the hype of the brand's innovations and mostly craftsmanship. I would love to own a patek 5207 one day, it is a grail, don't get me wrong...I think they make great watches, I just prefer the designs of VC better and would only consider buying a patek if it was a model that I couldnt live this life without.

Patek Philippe for me without any hesitation. When you are at the top of course people always will gun for you. Guess what? They are still at the top and still family owned. They produce elegant and classy watches that are second to none in my opinion and not over produced like many other large watch houses. I have never owned a Patek that wasn't amazing in every aspect from front of dial to back of movement. For me they represent the ultimate in watch collecting.

Patek gets my vote as well. I've only seen VC's at a couple of locations. Some of their watches looked fairly interesting but almost all of the Pateks I've seen I would love to own. I love the way Patek Philippe designs their watches.

Thanks for the votes so far, they are both fantastic watch manufactures and I would love to own both...for the record my vote is VC. For the same reasons that I would choose ferrari over Lamborgini, the styling, the history, the appeal. Not quite the same I know. I must say though, its not as overwhelmingly in favour of PP as I expected

For me it has to do with which particular model you are referring to,
however in general the pieces i like from PP are more than the pieces i like from VC :D So PP gets my vote. |

Patek wins in my book without a doubt
but if you are looking for something sporty to wear daily I think a variation of the VC Overseas would be my choice. Really depends on the model but overall unless sporty PP is in a class of its own.

For me the holy trinity is PP, VC, AP. In that order.

For me, VC comes last in the holy trinity because they "sold out" to Richemont Group! There is just that extra joy of a mechanical timepiece that produced by an independent house instead of a big corporate conglomerate.
Oh well, as long as VC doesn't continue the Richemont trend of fake patina... |

I'd rank it PP, AP, JLC, then VC. JLC and VC are both Richemont owned but I prefer the pieces from JLC over VC. Shame on Richemont for not doing more with VC!
With ALS in the mix, it's PP, ALS, AP, JLC, then VC. Last edited by kilyung; 17 May 2012 at 12:07 AM.. Reason: Forgot ALS. |

Richemont's "best" property is Lange, in my mind. They keep putting out stellar models in their own niche. I rather buy an ALS at this point than a VC.

VC makes some beautiful watches, but none of them have made an appearance on my bucket list.
As far as PP, I must own a Nautilus & 5146 (annual calendar) some day. The Overseas Deep Streams are close. |

PP all the way. For whatever reason, VC sits low on the radar for the most part.
