1. About a month
2. No, all gets worn. Some obviously more often than others. How often I wear a watch is not directly proportional to how much I love it.
3. Yes

1. Whats the longest you have not worn a watch that you own?
22 months and counting.

2. Do you have any BNIB that are for collection purposes only?
Trying to decide. I have an eight year old reference BNIB sitting in the safe that is no longer made. I'm trying to decide whether to wear it or buy a used one and keep the original in the safe.

3. Do all your watches get wrist time?
No, I have two that sit in the safe. One is a duplicate LE the other is BNIB.

If I'm not wearing it, it's gone. I'll usually give it a few months, specifically wearing the piece to see if it lights a fire in the wrist, but if it's back in the box after that it'll be in the block.

2. No, I wear them all!

3. All of them do get wrist time, obviously I have my favourites ;)

Also are there any people out there that collect some watches and don't wear them? Keeping them BNIB?

1) I rotate my watches weekly. Currently, each one gets a 6 week hiatus in the safe before it sees wrist action again.

2) I have a Kermit that is a safe queen. I'm hoping it will be highly desired in about 20-25 years and I can flip it. Before all the negative posts start, I know I shouldn't buy a watch as an investment and it should see wrist time...blah, blah, blah. Don't most investments carry some type of risk? I've made worse investments. Who would have thought there was no return on strippers and cocaine???!?!?! (kidding)

3) All see wrist time except Kermit.

I have 3 nice watches (two rolexes and a Tudor). I also have a number of "less fancy" watches, including a Boschett Cave Dweller dive watch and Yema Bipôle Duopoly (a watch with a built in solar compass, which works in both the northern and southern hemisphere. The nice watches seldom go more than 2 weeks without being worn. And I'll swap every few days, as the mood strikes.

The less fancy watches are seldom worn any more, though every so often I get the itch to wear the Yema, though the battery is certainly dead now.

As to the BNIB, I firmly believe that watches are for wearing, not collecting.

if I am not wearing them they are off the island. dont collect or let things sit around

if it has dust on it it is sold or flipped

and yes I do have favorites, the PM sport line, I have "kept" all my SS sport line watches by letting my kids have them, so technically still "have" them?

1. Several months
2. No.
3. Yes.

If you don't mind buying pre-owned and the pieces you're thinking of flipping are relatively easy to obtain, by all means, flip them if they're not doing it for you anymore. However, if you prefer BNIB/NOS condition watches and/or are thinking if selling a vintage or discontinued model, I would strongly urge you to consider keeping them. I've just re-acquired a NOS 16570 - albeit in the color I originally wanted - for significantly more than the one I sold, which was purchased within the last year and also NOS.

There's a reason the "don't flip" recommendation comes up often in this forum.

finally i am not a watch investor, i am an end user. when i buy i do not expect to make a profit, i do hope to not take too great of a loss.

1. Probably about a month
2. No
3. At some point or another, yes.

Have 5 watches. I'd say the one with the most wrist time so far is my Rose SkyDweller, followed by my Rose Daytona which may soon overtake the SkyDweller as my favorite. The least wrist time belongs to my Carl Bucherer Rose Moonphase.

1) I've got my pre and post Omega collection. Since I bought my SMP Bond and then subsequent Rolexes and Omega, most of my watches purchased prior have seen little to no wrist time (two to three years). It is too much work to unload them so they sit (10 to 12 watches as an estimate).

2) None.

3) see answer one and add that I used to rotate faithfully but now I rotate as I feel so there is no telling when I'll wear a watch.

?
Not really much to add here but I do this for golf putters. I have 3 in my rotation and when I get mad at one, the next one takes its place. By the time I come back around I forgot why I didn't like it.

I'm convinced this has saved me a lot of money!

If after 2 months I haven't worn a watch then I know I will sell it altho this could take a few months, I don't rush selling, and usually wait until I am ready to trade it into another watch I want.

GREAT idea for a thread.
1, About a year..too "minty" to wear plus it was gold plated so I was too worried. Now sold.
2. No ..I'd rather sell them if not wanting to regularly use
3. Yes but I'm selling all but my two Rolexes and plan to just alternate between them.
When there's a Rolex available I want to wear it! I waited long enough to start.

1. A month.
2. Nope
3. I have 7 watches at the moment. I wear them all. Frequently. From my Rolex to my yellow Orient Mako, they all see wrist time. In fact I enjoy that cheapie Mako as much as any I own. It's on my wrist as I post this.

2. Who buys new watches?! All vintage over here.
3. Everything is in rotation, however some only worn on special occasions.

Thanks so much again everyone for taking part.....Unreal to see the results.

I was really expecting a different outcome.

The link provided by lapince was great....thank you!

I am on the fence about what to do with my own collection and it is really helpful to see the results from this thread.

Thanks again!

1. 3or 4 months.
2. Nope.
3. Yes. Eventually, they all see some action, although a couple get worn only a couple dozen times in a year, only with a certain outfit, context (ex: the beach or hiking trips), or b/c they recaptures my interest after a long hiatus.

1. A few weeks, none of my watches look similar and some go better with certain clothes.
2. No BNIB collection.
3. Yes, I probably wear every watch once every few weeks, though I'm trying to save my Reverso for special occasions only, but I can't resist!
