Supreme and Rolex collaboration

Seems like a bad move for Rolex...good move for Supreme. I can honestly say...I would only buy this for a flip. I wouldn't even put it on the wrist. It would stay in box...and I'll make a quick profit. Of course, I don't know what Rolex is thinking, but I still don't like this idea. Then again, Rolex can see a lot further than I can (marketing wise).

I would also like to know what Supreme is. Will it be like a Tiffany & Co collaboration?

This doesn't seem a like an official collab - more like a Bamford situation?

I read last week (somewhere) that it was 'called off' again. I would agree, doing this for a flip would be the best option considering I wouldn't wear it.

It's all speculation, nothing official...and I highly doubt Rolex would team up with a clothing brand or anything of that nature (have they EVER done anything like this??)

If anything, I would expect Rolex to defer to Tudor for collaborations like this, and even that is extremely far-fetched.

Supreme is a NYC based skating brand. It used to be underground. I ran into MCA (R.I.P.) aka Adam Yauch from the Beastie Boys at the original shop in the East Village back in '99 when I went there after school with a couple of friends who were really into skating and skateboarding. It's now become a really trendy clothing line selling limited stuff that people buy just to flip for a profit right away just like Adidas Yeezy sneakers. For those who don't know Kanye has paraded in all sorts of Supreme gear and his followers will buy anything the guy wears or is associated with.

This is the last thing we need especially given the current watch situation. This will only attract more hipsters and people who will buy watches solely for flipping. Trust me when I say we really don't want that crowd getting involved with watches. It will really wreck the market.

If you some hypebeast watch go get a gucci...a Rolex is enough street cred by itself you don’t need to add a streetwear clothing label to make it cooler!

Supreme is modifying the Rolex and stamping their logo on the watches. Seriously why would Rolex collaborate with Supreme and endorse the phrase "F*** EM". Never would have passed the Rolex board.

Why would anyone pay $50k for a run of the mill 116610LN with FUCK EM on it? It really would only appeal to teens and rappers. The watches which weren't publicly available sold for $10-12k. I don't see a Sub enthusiast buying this over a red 1680 or DRSD in great condition.

I can't imagine this ever happening. Why would Rolex want to associate itself with Supreme, a brand created for idiots?

It wasn't created for idiots. The brand originally was not what it is today. It was a niche brand for skateboarders, skaters who also were into graffiti culture. Obviously not anymore. Most people just want to buy their stuff to sell for a quick profit.

I stand corrected. I should've said "Supreme, a brand for idiots".

You ran into Adam Yauch, wow, love the Beastie Boys, saw them in Toronto at an event for, "The Kids in the Hall", an industry event at a local venue, was an amazing set, 90 minutes of great music with plenty of room to move around.

On the other hand, looked at some of the examples of Rolex and Supreme, and not to my taste...but one person's trash is another's treasure...YMMV as they say....

Yeah, I couldn't believe it! Definitely starstruck especially as a 14 year old! You can really run into anyone at anytime in the city.

Supreme and Rolex collaboration

For everyone asking. Supreme is a skateboard brand / shop founded in 1994 in New York City. In the past few years it has established itself as a luxury brand due to its popularity amongst celebrities. It is a pop culture phenomenon that has taken the fashion world by storm. They have done Collabs with many high end brands, most notably LV.

I for one think the collaboration between Rolex and supreme is stupid. Just another step in the direction of pushing more sales vs staying true to being a reputable / respected watch brand

There's no need. What's the connection ? Not like Cameron, doing something with a Deep Sea actually involved.

My skate boarding days are pretty much behind me, but even if not, it's one of those activities I'd be strapping on the GShock for. I'm fairly liberal with my Rolex watches but not that much.
