Tudor BB ETA winding issues

Just wondering if any of my forum friends have had any problems with their ETA Black Bays? Mine has gone wrong for the second time

Actually this will be its third trip back to the RSC at St James. The first one was for regulation, so we won't count that.

About 9 month ago it got very tight while being manually wound. RSC say they replaces some parts. All was good on its return

The BB is a watch I use in rotation so its not been out for a few months. Tonight on manually winding it feels very odd, almost like the rotor is spinning while I wind. Its also quite stiff to wind. Definitely not right.

I did a bit of internet research and there were a few reports that ETA 2824 don't like manual winding, which seems a bit odd for such a well regarded movement. Is there any truth in this?

Would appreciate your thoughts

I too, just like Adam, have had no issues with mine either. I am in a similar situation as you Gabriel as I do not wear mine all the time and generally have to manually wind my BB once per week.

Not sure what could be going on with yours? Please do post what the outcome is.

Have had similar problems with the 2824 for some reason they don't like manual winding. Some of the gears destroy them self if wound often. I have one I'm working on now with the same problem

There is some truth in the movement not liking handwinding too much! It's best to give it a few winds from dead to getting it ticking then just wear it.

Thanks all.

Will keep you posted on what RSC have to say. There appears to be at least some empirical evidence that hand winding isn't great for this movement.

I stopped the winder mine's been running on thinking that I was helping the watch. Maybe not the right thing to do in retrospect. I'll have to put it in motion again. Thanks for the heads up.

Ok, its back from the RSC. They give very little away as to what was wrong/what they fixed.

Still added another Tudor pouch to the collection

Oh no, just noticed the bezel is mis-aligned - back to RSC we go
