Patek or Lange?

I have a question that most likely have been asked before here.
Patek or Lange?
I personally prefer Lange but everyone knows that Patek is the "TOP watch manufacturer". I am looking to get one high end dressy watch. which one do you like better, Patek or Lange?

to be honest with you, I know almost nothing about models from each of those brands, thats why I took it to forum. I learned a lot about sport models but know nothing about dress watches.
just want to find out what members here like better, patek or lange?

I think Lange is the better value but Patek has the better recognition.

If I was to buy into the lower end of those two I would choose Patek, namely a Nautilus. In the higher end I would go for a Lange Double Split.

I would do the opposite.
If I had the choice between a Lange 1815 or a Calatrava, I would buy the lange. A Patek annual calendar or a Lange 1 ... the Lange 1

Now the expensive pieces, a Patek chronograph perpetual or a similar Lange .. the Patek. A Patek 5016 or a tourbograph ... again the Patek

As mentioned, it depends on the models they offer. I prefer Patek but I don't really care for the recognition or the prestige of the brand, both make stunning movements and horology masterpieces but I just happen to like the PP watches more (let's say a tad more, the Lange 1 moonphase is one of my all-time grails as well).

Yea - it really depends on the model. Both are top brands. Sure Patek has more recognition, but they're both top brands with top of the line watches. Depends on the model.

Go to your ADs and try them both....IMO, you can't go wrong with any model of these two brands. It's just a matter of taste.

I was like you and my started Lange and another Lange then Patek. Last month I just got another Lange. Both watches are great and likely to add Patek in the future...

PP, a few models. There is not a Lange that I would care to own.

each great choices with distinct styles, kind of leaning to an apples and oranges answer.

I own both and love them both for different reasons. It all comes down to which models tough like any other watch house. I would be hard pressed to find a better watch than my Double Split or a cooler watch than my Zeitwerk. With that said I would be hard pressed to find nicer watches than my 5159G, 5070P, or 5960P blue. They all are beautiful and all have different attributes making them compatible for any top notch collection IMHO. Cheers,

Wow, really a hard choice. Both are super brands with an amazing history of watchmaking. Really depends on what you are looking for...either one is outstanding

I generally prefer the design ethos of Lange, but Patek's movements are glorious. No bad choice here

I'm no expert, either, but if you are comparing similar styles of watches from both companies, I would always pick the company with the longer history. I suspect the difference in quality is going to be invisible to all but the experts.

A watch from either brand should last for generations, so you'll need parts and service, regularly. A company that has been around for 200 years is a better bet to be around 20 years from now than a company that is 50 years old.

I'm sure you can be very happy with a watch from either brand, though.

I prefer PP because I think some Lange models dont look good on someone wrist (my wrist).
