Hamilton Khaki field advice
Hi all, looking to garner some opinions/advice. Im looking in the not so distant future to get a Hamilton Khaki field mechanical. I had one a few years ago with the black dial and date, which I wasn't in total love with. I wasn't too happy with how it sat on my wrist with the long lugs, and at times I found the minimalistic nature of the dial a little boring. I sold it after a few months to help fund my 5500 Air-King, and simply because I didn't really feel like I was bonding with the watch. Fast forward 4 years, and I am regretting that I sold that watch. I have to say that I have come to appreciate the minimalistic look more and find myself wanting another one.
Question, should I go with the current, no date khaki field, or buy one of the older used fields like the one I used to have? Ive gone back and forth, even considering the new white dial version. What do you guys think? Thanks! |

I was going back and forth between the white dial and the all black version, and went with the latter. Fun watch, lots of strap options

Sadly, no. I don’t think the lume is terrific on this watch compared to my Rolexes and Seikos.
You can tell from the picture that it does not have anti-reflective coating (or if it does, it doesn’t work). But it is a very nice field watch at a reasonable price! |

If the white had the 28800bph I would have gone with that. Definitely prefer the smoother motion of the second hand. Ill most likely get one of the older black dials with the date, which is what I had a few years ago.

Personally, I'd go for the new no date version but that's because I don't usually like date windows and no date watches are much faster and easier to set, which is an issue if you have a number of watches.

I have this - the brown dial. Fun watch and great value. I’ve worn it on both leather and nato.

I like the newer no date mechanicals, but nothing wrong with the older date ones... I just prefer no date watches personally.
works on vintage style strap too: |

Nice Hamilton. My Timex Expedition fills the "Field Watch " void.

If you can wear a 42mm, I highly recommend the Hamilton Murph Field watch. It is a beautiful piece and I think its readability exceeds the Khaki Field watch.

I do like the no date version. The thing that ruins it for me is the faux patina on the lume. Unfortunately

I have the brown dial version before and now the white dial version.
I think these are great value, and a lot of fun to wear. They works well with a lot of different straps.

debating on whether or not to get a used one or new. Ive decided to go with the date version w the black dial and older 28800 bph movement.

Ive thought of the 80s military field watches from Hamilton. Worried about frankens and fakes, so I have stayed away from those so far.

Anybody with any knowledge on these older Hamiltons? Here is one I found from 88 on the bay. Definitely looks cool and I like the small size. Thoughts?
