Buy them and wear them regardless of what they are "worth" now or will be in the future.

There certainly is a health crisis.

A watch crisis...not so much. Hearts around the world won’t break for Rolex owners who are upset and worried that the value of their watches will go down.

Yes it’s true. If you buy them to wear them it doesn’t matter.

If you bought your Hulk or SkyD to make money well your in for big trouble.

There is almost 100% certainty all Rolex prices will drop across the board - its only the start as well. Wait another month or 2 and the domino effect will compound with people wanting to liquidate their "investments". LOL

Rolex watches is not the same as a house/food or other necessity in life.

I’m fairly new to the board and couldn’t work out all the abbreviations, then I noticed there is a sticky for all acronyms and abbreviations.

Have to agree myself would count watches very far down the list of importance in today's present health crises world wide. Some should remember the most precious thing we have is life, yet it has absolutely no trade-in value.

Look around OP, there are already a couple of threads started on this topic....maybe the Mods can cap how many of these threads are started or merge them into one...they are starting to take over TRF

Its very funny actually how quickly the tide has turned on TRF.

We all used to complain about how many threads there are about ppl posting things like "How much money will I make?" Or "How much can I flip my Hulk or BLRO for?"

Now all the threads are about selling and taking losses and worried flippers scrambling trying to liquidate.

Only effects grey market. If you bought yours from an AD and you bought it because you really wanted it instead of flipping it, then you don't have anything to worry about.

All watch prices are coming down. We are in a worldwide crisis which will cause many people to sell to fund vital necessary living expenses resulting in more supply on the used market. Fewer people will be buying the watches new or used. How long this condition exists or if it is the new normal, remains to be seen.

I would be having a heart attack is I was playing the hype game and sitting on numerous RMs or Pateks that I bought at premium.

There is a very real risk there at you could lose a lifetime of savings on those pieces if you hold these and dont liquidate soon.

Enjoy what you own. YOU can't take it with you, and if you are sick now or was, as I, please take care and I wish you a speedy and healthy recovery. I was fortunate. Many will not be.
Everything luxury will be sacrificed as people need money. Its too early still.

In the next few months we are going to see a world depression like no other.

If you are a watch wearer, then continue to wear and in good health. If you are a flipper, good luck to you.

I believe that Rolex Sports models will be all available to buy without having to go on a list within the next 18 months (apart from the Daytona).
The Rolex bubble has popped, I expect a few calls off a few distraught AD's when this pandemic is over.

Yes.. your watches are tanking in value. Why do you care ? Didn't you buy them because you could afford them and you like them ?

Yep, that's the difference between buying for profit vs buying for enjoyment. While the market value might go down the enjoyment value can continue to reap benefits.

in fact i bought them because i can't keep my money , i'm like women , always spending money , so i had some money to spend and people around me said that these watches could rise up in terms of value , so i believed them , and in fact these watches was some kind of safe , so that i couldn't spend this money..
if i knew that gold is sooo rising up today , well , that's always the same problem , ..

I have to agree with the members that buy for personal satisfaction. Prices would then mean very little to us. Just owning the watch i love is enough. If one is a flipper then i think there will be a lot of disappointment coming. I dont have anything against flipping watches, but like anything there is risk involved. I don't want to see anyone lose their shirt but it is likely to happen unless this storm can be ridden out.

I assume our watches will continue ticking - so there's no crisis.

If the value of a wristwatch is critical to someone's wealth, I suspect they may have bigger problems. It's a watch, who cares what it's worth?

is there a crisis for our watches???

Of course it’s nice to know that you can sell your watches for more

But... I have bought all my watches with a watch budget that has zero impact on my lifestyle. It is with cash not credit. So it doesn’t really matter to me that watch value is tanking. Obviously not tanking is better but this is the life we live in for the moment

I bought my watches because I love wearing them. I’ve never bought a watch to flip.

But to answer your question there is no watch crisis, at least for me

Very well put, thanks for posting that!

To the OP, there are much better investments than luxury watches (unless you're a grey, I guess!). Buy it, wear it, enjoy it. To me the value of my Rolexes (and TRF) lately are that they take my mind off the stress and worry of COVID-19, family safety, and being sheltered-in-place for so long. Right now that temporary respite is priceless, to me!

I agree. I wonder how many people really think about a new watch (not a vintage) as some sort of investment? Or worse, track its value like tracking the value of your home or business? I suspect it's a very small percentage but social media and forums like this just seem to amplify it.

If you still wear and enjoy these watches they are still worth every penny that you paid for them, whatever the price.

If watches go up in value it helps if you are tired of it and want to get something different, but I wouldn't call it "trouble" if it doesn't go up in value. It's just a watch.

You got some great watches. Wear them in good health.
