What's Your Final 3?
My collection is relatively stable now, and I've been reflecting on what my "Final 3" would be. For me it comes down to these:
Omega Aqua Terra 231.10.39.21.03.002: The Aqua Terra is my pick for most versatile watch. This one looks good in the entire range of attire. It's depth rating of 150m with screw down crown make it more than enough of a diver for me. Extremely anti-magnetic. Co-Axial movement with jumping hour. If it were down to just one, it would be this one. Rolex Explorer II 16570: Five-digit models are my size sweet spot, and you can't beat the Rolex GMT function. The stealthy and tool-like ethos of the Explorer II from that era can't be beat. (TAG) Heuer CS3110: I like chronographs, and certainly there are many storied models out there to choose from -- Speedmaster, Daytona, El Primero, Navitimer, etc. All excellent choices. However, for me, the coolest chronos are the vintage Heuer ones from the 60s/70s. The Carrera reissue is perfect for me, and the fact that its movement is basically a Speedmaster movement seals the deal. What would be your Final 3? Please share your picks and rationale. |

My current top 3 I love these 3. The RO is my favourite, but the Daytona is probably the easiest to wear as it’s more robust. The DD is my first PM watch and it’s really something. Eventually I want to add a Patek annual or perpetual calendar. But for now these three make me very happy.

Final 3 was a mission I talked about a good bit here on TRF and here is a pic I’ve also posted a good bit
Guess I could take new one but these are truly my final 3/end game with Rolex. Granted I’ll admit I have been getting the itch for something new of late but I really don’t see anything that blows my mind. Maybe a 505 or a 235. Also maybe a SD43. Grails above the three mentioned would be 116506 or the new 228236. Alas these 3 plus my others will do the trick. Maybe………….. These are definitely the most worn by a looooooooong shot

What's Your Final 3?
I wish I could say I could narrow it down to an ultimate 3 but I have a quiver full of kids and grandkids that eventually wind up with my collection and whatever they decide to do with em God Bless em.
They all love my watches and I have a son in law that loves to compliment me and tell me how good looking I am every time he sees me and says “Am I any closer to you willing me the Pepsi ?” Love that kid lol |

I "think" I'm done buying expensive watches. I may still buy an occasional new Seiko but nothing too extravagant. These three Rolex cover a lot of bases for me and all are in regular rotation. My Speedmaster gets mixed in too.
The exception might be if some new "Super Rolex" catches my attention then it would probably be one in/one out. |

As I gradually collect more, I have focused more on chronographs nowadays so it’s likely the ultimate trio will be just chronographs. The SS Daytona may lose its spot should another PM Daytona arrives.

For me, these three references epitomize all that I would ever need in a collection.
1. The Submariner 124060 Everyone needs a diver even of they don't dive. It's perhaps the most iconic watch of all time and the most copied. Enough said? 2. The Speedmaster ref 311.30.40.30.01.001.(321Ed White) As chronographs are concerned, IMO the speedmaster trumps all. A rich history of space achievement, legibility in spades and based on one of the most revered column wheel chronographs in history. Manual winding goodness at its best. 3. Rolex 126710 blro. A modern take on the most iconic GMT travel watch of all time. What watch comes to mind when you think of a GMT? Air, sea, land (ok ... space ) these three cover all my bases 20211119_123106.jpgIMG_20181118_161825_255.jpg Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

Black dial, white dial, green (favorite color) dial and my 3 favorite models.
In my collection, these definitely take the podium. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My current final three. (But it ain’t over ‘til it’s over!) Obviously with a bias toward sport models.
Exp II - Daily beater and travel watch. SubC LV 41 - Personal all time favorite Rolex having owned all three LV iterations. Will never part with this one. DJ41 - As much of a dress watch as I’ll ever need and can sport it out a bit more with the oyster bracelet I also have for it. |

These are my only 3, AND in the end will always be my final 3.
SubDate - 10th wedding anniversary gift, my first Rolex, and will one day be given to my oldest son, whose Chinese name is Ocean. GMT BLNR - Second Rolex, never expected to get from my wonderful AD, and will one day be given to my youngest son, whose Chinese name is Sky. Explorer Rolesor - Completed my Land-Sea-Air trio. And if you're following along with the theme here, my Chinese name is Mountain. Hopefully, there will be a few more along the way, some will stay, some might go, but these 3 will forever be the core of my collection.

What's Your Final 3?
Fact is, all I really need are the Submariner, Datejust and the Apple Watch, but the Omegas are an awesome bonus and never going anywhere.

Luckily, 'Ocean' wants the Subbie and 'Sky' loves the GMT (he happens to love the Batman character as well). But could you imagine if they each wanted the other watch! This story wouldn't quite be the same. One day I'll write a post about it. Cheers!

Too early in the hobby to get it down to 3.
I can do with 5, my current 4 + Daytona. One reference from each iconic model and SkyD to substitute for the DJ |
