50k for Rolex collection

Hypothetical question.

If you had to build a Rolex only collection, with about 50k , what watches would you pick? Could be 1 watch, could be 3. Only catch is you have to use current grey prices, as nothing is actually available at an AD for most people.

For me it would be-
Pepsi 22k
Cermit 20k
Maybe a used explorer 1

Figured it would be a fun exercise.

Enjoy your weekends!

1 yellow gold Rolex (hard to narrow it down to which one.

Doesn’t leave much change lol, I’d squeeze in the sd43 in.

Tougher at gray prices. At MRSP I’d take a BLRO, and Submariner, and a SkyDweller.

Fun question. I would go steel Explorer for around 10k, Explorer II for 13k, then the best yellow gold Day Date 36mm I could find for the remaining 27k.

YG day date and an explorer I or sub. Covers pretty much any situation. If you need a true beater g-shock and call it a day

Pretty much what I have in my sig listed below, granted if you can get a BLNR & sub date at MSRP or decent grey market deal when that happens.

Grey or AD?

Let's pretend I can actually buy something:
- Black SS Daytona (15k) [Land]
- GMT BLNR (10K) [Air]
- SD43 (13k) [Sea]
- TT Rose DJ36 (for wifey ) (Can't afford diamonds with the budget, oh well :rolleyes)

It would be tight, but I'd try to pull off a 214270, 116710LN and a 116520.

Me too. At current grey prices I would hold and revisit it in a few months or maybe this time next year. This trio are all superb but they are not worth their grey premiums.

I assume it’ll be a bit tight at $50k but I’d go for a platinum day date 40 at retail

Stretching a tad on current grey prices, a YG Day Date from the 80s or 90s for about 15k, and a SS white dial Daytona-C for 35k.

tough with current grey prices. yg day date and sub is probably all you need. personally would probably go with a 5 digit yg day date and white daytona since i have small wrists

BLRO and no date sub, and pocket the rest for something like a reverso. Or maybe just the BLRO, pocket the rest for a Lange.

16610 Submariner Date
16710 GMT Master II with Coke and Pepsi bezel inserts
126200 36mm Datejust with blue jubilee dial and jubilee bracelet

I would then limit how much time I spend looking at watches online and be content with what is on my wrist (for a few weeks at least).

If I can only go grey for Rolex I’m skipping all of the current nonsense and sticking to Omega/GS/IWC.
Not what you asked, I know.

Been a while since I thought about adding something in SS other than a SD43. I’d probably pick one in PM. 50k going Grey based upon your numbers would probably be a YG DD or 50k at an A D I’d stick with my 326935.

Maybe a 126619 and a 214270

Assuming I can get retail price, I would complete the Land, Air, Sea theme. Daytona, GMT, and Sub. For grey prices, GMT and Sub first, then save the rest for a Daytona in the future.
