Video: The 7 types of Watch Collector

This is a highly entertaining video by one of my favorite YouTubers. He is also a member of this forum. If you go to 18:40 or so you will hear him talk about the differences between Omega and Rolex forums, which is kinda hilarious.

This guy makes some great and thoughtful categorizations.

I started out as a Flipper. Now I see myself as more of a “one watch-box” type - keeping a core collection of a few watches and tweak it slightly over time. At the same time, I qualify for the Watch Nerd type, since I have a couple dozen toy watches, including a Casio calculator which I proudly wear. I guess I have a multiple personality disorder!

I started out as a one watch guy and after 50 years am now a two watch guy. Progress.

Thanks for sharing this interesting video. I'm wondering what his ID on this forum is.

I liked it, great content and I liked how he referenced all our "wear it in great health comments." (definitely guilty of that...)

That was fun.

I think a lot of us are in a few of those categories and slip and slide in and out of some of them as we evolve-devolve.

And thank you very much for watching. Yes, I really enjoyed his pronunciation video. One youtuber, Chirstian from Teho and Harris, says Car tea er instead of Cart tea a. Drives me nuts. And he has a college degree and sells vintage watches.

The reason why Omega produces so many limited editions is to pander to their collectors' "nerdiness", I think. "Silver Snoopy", any one?

One thing that really caught my attention.

I say one - one - four - zero - six - zero (114060)

He said eleven - forty - sixty (114060)

Thanks for watching, guys. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I noticed that he pronounces reference numbers differently.

I like this guy. Calls it like he sees it.

I'm a one box guy but would love to be a one watch guy. I just don't see that happening though.

Thanks for posting.

I do what he does. For the 16710, I'm a sixteen-seven-ten guy...

Yes, we're nerds haha.

This guy is great. Not only is his watch content great but he has really superb taste in European travel destinations (some of his videos are watch reviews in vacation destinations-and he will give a bit of local history), wine, and classical music- he plays Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, Elgar's "Nimrod" Enigma Variation, etc. Who does that on youtube these days?!

Yes, he was a professional musician who played for a pretty well-known band, I believe. He is very sophisticated, speaks several languages, and has great taste in music.

Great video and I definitely fall into his “one watch case guy”. I also like his line of if thieves get through him then it’s well deserved.
