233 dot dial discussion...
Can someone enlighten me on this? What's the attraction exactly? Is it because it was done away with that it's more appealing? Is there more to it...
Looking at a newer 233 to purchase, but this dot dial thing has me a bit confused. thanks!

I think its just personal preference mostly from comments I have seen (i.e., dot dial more pleasing aesthetically)...
Some people also factor in a rarity however I don't think it matters or that watch! |

As an owner of a dot dial I just love it. It has a much more vintage feel than the newer am/pm indicator but it’s 100% personal preference. I guess the dot is older so maybe people want to ascribe value to that, or that they will become more rare over time? If you are looking at an older green dot, make sure to read up on the “stuck fang” issue!

Pretty much what they have said ...
if I was looking for a 44mm Pam... This would probably be the model I would be looking for and wouldn't give a dot which indicator it had. I've owned Pams since early 2000s and aware of most of the nuances. I think the 233 is an iconic contemporary Panerai for many reasons and a beauty ... get either version |

I recently picked up a 233. I have owned 25+ Panerai over the last 10 years. 233 is an excellent choice. I have the am pm indicztor and like the look very much. I orefer it over the dot. Best of luck.

The 233 is indeed an icon. Having the 689 and 737, I much prefer the am pm indicators so that's what I would choose.

Go with what you like. I went with a 233 'dot' because I love the look, the am/pm one didn't do it for me. It's not a think-it-through thing for me, I get watches that ignite my lizard brain. :-D
If the am/pm one cooks your eggs, get it; newer watch probably less likely to need service soon, and I heard it winds faster (I get bored halfway through winding it, that's a slow fang crawl.) The black tunnel calfskin band is a great look, too, not sure if latest ones come with that? Panerai's website doesn't show it. |

Thanks all. I ended up going with an S am/pm. Ultimately the dot dial didn’t really make me feel one way or another so I went with the newer version with a solid chunk of warranty remaining! :) Loving it...
