Another would you trade...In your experience

Hello, I would like a Patek 5164A. I would have to trade my BLNR and LVc plus cash. I really like both watches and rotate them regularly. I think I've caught the Patek bug. Anyone out there do something similar? Any regrets?

The 5164 is one of the very few pieces that could make me think about it. However, I would never leave myself sans Rolex.

not in my wildest dreams. the 5164A is nice but a rather common patek reference. both BLNR (sold mine, big regrets) and LV are great and appreciating assets.

a common Patek is far more rare than any Rolex, but a 67 is the one that you see way more of. Im not sure where you are going with that as Rolex makes more BLNR's per year than Patek makes out of all their sports models combined, probably.

Price wise these Rolex's are pretty high now and i cant see them skyrocketing further, so if you want out now is a pretty good time.

I’d do it, depending how much cash you need to add.

A Rolex is needed in the collection, but if it came to it I’d rather be sans Rolex than sans Patek.

true but why go out of rolex? i just would not do it but it is a personal matter of course. nobody has a real idea about future market values but i can imagine the rolex sports models go up, something i cannot believe for the 5164A. disclaimer: i do not particularly like steel watches, particularly not the pateks steel models. if steel, then rolex for me. again, personal taste.
for me 5164R >> 5164A.

i think a Rolex is essential in a collection for sure.My GMT is never going anywhere. I agree with Russ though that its better to be without one then without a Patek.

Plus, i know i could get a BLNR for sure and most likely a Hulk from my AD easier than a 5164 because there are just so many more out there. Price points make replacing those easier too vs a 5164 down the road.

I would absolutely do it.

If OP's profile is up to date, he still has a DaytonaC. If you're gonna go down to one Rolex, that's definitely the one.

I'm not gonna speculate on future prices, but barring an actual discontinuation of either at Basel I'd imagine that flipping the LVc and BLNR right now for a 5164a isn't gonna be something you'll regret.

If it were me, and if you have the room, I'd try to go BLNR + cash and keep the Hulk. If not, no worries, you can get a Hulk again in the future.

Have you tried on a 5164a yet?

I only ask because it's gonna be very different, in feel and in presence, from from your Rolexes.

Tried one at lunch. I actually liked it better in person. They had a used, and an unworn one.

I guess I am trying to cut down on so many Rolexes. I have the DaytonaC, BLNR, LVc, Pepsi SS. I figured what was left would get more wrist time. I rotate them one per week, so its almost two months before I wear one twice. (also have Speedy ST and Trilogy Speedmaster)

Absolutely, since you'd still have a handful of Rolex watches. And, you can trade those in for the inevitable AP later.

I had the exact same Rolexes you do, plus 2 others and 3 Pams, I got a 5712 and stopped wearing them as the lack of comfort was awful, so I flipped them all, go for it

I’d flip the BLNR and more cash but hang onto to the LVC. Every collection needs a Submariner

Personally I'd trade both GMTs for the 5164, keep the sub and the daytona. The 5164 is a natural GMT replacement and then you keep your dive watch and your chrono

My three top SS are the 5164, LVc and 5712 but I would do that trade in a heartbeat, and as you have two other Rolexes I'd do it in half a heartbeat.

I think the travel time function in the 5164 is a perfect solution for different time zones.

If you don't need it, you can just hide the 2nd hour hand.

The watch is also very light and compact, and IMO, very useful for travelling.

I would trade your Rolex for the 5164.
