Issue with 176...

I bought a used K series 176 a few years ago. I had it serviced in 2015. Now it won't fully wind. After about 30 or so turns of the crown it slips, I can hear it, and keeps winding, never topping out. I took it back to the AD and they said something about the barrel, which makes sense, and it will cost $100 + to fix.

Is this to be expected after only a couple of years? The bbl had been replaced at the service. And it's not even close to a daily wearer. I like it and want to keep it, but I hope it doesn't become a service headache. Besides, I have nice strap collection.

The ETA 6497-based movement in the 176 is a great design, very reliable, and easy to work on, but these things happen unfortunately.

x2

And the price of the repair reflects that...just imagine if it were an in house model that had to go to PASC....

No, not overwound. I never got to the "stop" feel, which takes about 100 turns of my fingers and I usually count so I know I'm getting close. Anyway, I'm sure they'll sort it. The AD works on these themselves.
