Looks all good to me

1. hands are original and genuine (e.g. judging by the second hand's features)
2. dial typography and font looks good; coronet looks good with the spherical 3D-ish dots
3. hollow middle-link 19mm bracelet on this model (with the correct marking font) is a very good sign (i.e. not an aftermarket bracelet)
4. clasp looks good
5. movement has a 1000% genuine base

I have a 14010, engine turned bezel, and 3-6-9 dial in salmon color, so I can tell you the AK you are looking at is the real deal .. It's a pretty good price, because I've seen many on fleabay going for as much as 1000 dollars more. 3,600 is a crazy high price for it, but some people do ask it .. and even worse, some people actually pay it

If you buy it, come back and post pics. We love pics here on TRF. And wear it in great health for many many years

It has been serviced by a NON Rolex approved repair center.

That watch can be had with box and hang tags for 3k, and I got mine for less .. I won't post how much in case I decide to sell it one day

I can get a 114200 with box and hang tag for 3,600 and a 114234 with box, papers and hang tags for 3,900 4,200

Nothing wrong paying whatever you are willing to pay for something you really want .. I just think 3,600 is requires the newer style watch

What do you think of the new air king 116900?

precisely, there is one best off similar to this one with box and papers but seller has much less history. no stranger to the last part, that hankering for tudor sub just had to be scratched a few months back

Yep, looks like a nice piece for the price.

If flea-bay shopping, this one doesn't look bad either: P-series AK
Includes box/papers/etc. and *possibly* a slightly stronger case. However, it's nearly $700 more.

oooo not bad, there was one with a ding on the bezel. the watch has begun the book marking period for me. Ill bookmark the watch for a period of maybe 2 weeks and look at it everyday, usually every hour to see if I'm tired of it. Asked on another Air King thread, but it looks like you can replace the dials. Feeling the indices more than the large arabics, but there is time. Seller has yet to reply back with answers to my questions however.

Those of you with comments about servicing/polishing/refinishing...How can you tell that from those pictures? Or is this just something that comes with a lot of experience, a “know it when I see it” type of thing?

experience and a lot of looking at examples of the watch helps/handling the watch. for example, one of those lugs does bother me a bit as the wear is different from the others. however this would be a user for me if I do buy it. So far, seller has been unresponsive to my questions

Sorry to hijack your thread, Jack. I've been looking at this one, too:
Ebay item: 162857002022

Is there anything alarming to you from the listing?

quite alright

nothing. that one also has come up in the thread as another possibility/suggestion. I have it bookmarked currently.
it is better than this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-Air-K....c100675.m4236 which has a ding or two on the bezel but still with box and papers, however best offer is available but less seller history

I'd try to offer 100 dollars less, although it's still a great price

I feel the same way .. Although it is a cool looking watch .. I'd get one if I could get it for less than 6k

The watchmaker's service marks on the inside of the case-back are one easy way to tell.
On that piece there are at least two (one light engraving and one w/ sloppy permanent marker).

Agree here as well. Personally, If I was looking for a 5-digit AK, it would probably be the 14010 (engine-turned bezel) and the standard stick/baton dial.

Something like these:

AK 14010 1
AK 14010 2

Or, if still leaning towards the Arabic dial, this one would probably clean up nicely:

AK 14010 Arabic

Agreed again. Looks like a stopwatch dial.
The real deal-breaker for me though is the yellow coronet/green "Rolex". Just never looked right to me.
Also, seeing "Air King" printed on the lower half of the dial looks odd as well. Much rather have a 4/5-digit AK. YMMV...

those were in consideration as well for me for the baton dial. its the engine turned that made me say no. wonder which is cheaper to replace
