DJ41 Smooth Scratches??

I have an opportunity to purchase the new DJ41 smooth bezel. I have some concerns that the smooth bezel is a "scratch magnet". Any comments from DJ41 owners will be greatly appreciated.

Many ADs have said this to me, and it would make sense because 1) it is a bezel, and bezels get smacked quite a bit 2)it is stainless steel, which scratches easily 3) it is flat and smooth, and will not hide scratches.

That said, they can easily be polished as often as you like, and unlike the bracelet and fluted bezel, which cost $1,000 or more to replace, you can get another smooth bezel on ebay for less than $100.

Smooth bezels are scratch magnets, as are polished center links on oyster bracelets (and precious metal president bracelets). The polished portion of a jubilee bracelet for some reason doesn't show scratches, though.

I had a smooth bezel DJII and it definitely was a scratch magnet. Had a lot to do with why I flipped it for the same model with a fluted bezel. If you are concerned about scratches avoid smooth bezels and PCL's

Perhaps, but you'll only notice the first few. After a while they all blend in and you don't notice or care. (This coming from experience with a smooth bezel DJ36 and Omega AT.)

I've owned a number of DJs and have always preferred the look of the fluted bezel. Yes, the smooth will quickly scratch.

All watches scratch. Yes some more than others but just get what you like.

Yes it scratches. But it's still beautiful! If you are concerned about scratches then it's not the watch for you. I think it looks good though!

Yes it is. If you worry about scratches move in to something else because it will bother you.

Haven't had mine long, but thus far no scratches. I'd be more worried about the clasp scratching than the bezel. Inspecting any watch in the bright sunlight will always show scratches, but in normal light it shouldn't be an issue unless you are fanatical about it.

First cut always the deepest. Just get what you like, insure it, wear it and enjoy it daily! Don't worry about scratches, they will inevitably happen and it will make the watch more personal to you and more of your own. Whether on the bezel, case, clasp, or PCL bracelet scratches will happen unless you have bubble wrap around your watch/wrist. Separately - I prefer smooth to fluted for the look, personally.

This is all subjective. It bothers some folks much more than others.

Take a look at some used OPs, AKs, Expl 1s, and DJs with smooth bezels. Check the wear and see how it makes you feel.

Personal note: I love my DJ41 smooth.

Oddly enough I didn't notice many scratches on my TT DJ36 with smooth bezel even though I had it for 7 months. I do see and notice scratches on my ss aqua terra 38.5mm bezel though. I've had it for 6 months but I started noticing them at month 2!
When and if I get my next DJ, it'll be a fluted bezel.

z-blue also has a smooth bezel. It scratches, but most are only seen by the wearer and only in certain lighting. I still prefer it over the fluted bezel.

Bought a new explorer about 6 months ago and the bezel, polished case & clasp sides are covered in micro scratches. Every single one caused by incessantly wiping away smudges with dry microfiber cloths. Lesson learned, I invested in a cape cod cloth, polished away all micro scratches and now I only wash the watch in soapy water from time to time. No more dry wiping and so far, no more micro scratches.

Had the smooth, and oyster, DJ2, traded in for new DJ41 TT fluted jub. I was expecting the same kind of scratch resistance as Sub, but due to high polish, really noticeable, really bothered me.
