Interesting to hear. I haven't tried on the new 41, but I will later this week. I didn't like the fit of the DJ II at all and preferred the classic 36 over that. I felt the lugs on DJ II were too long. I heard they reduced them for the 41 from 49mm (DJ II) to 47mm (for DJ 41) which sounds great. If I don't feel the 41 is a good fit for me, like yourself, I will go 114060 as well. I may even consider the DJ 36mm (116234) should I feel its not too small for me this time around.

Great choice

I thought it was very interesting that when you go onto Rolex's official site and configure the 41 in steel with Jubilee, it comes up with only this combination only. I mean I thought you would be able to choose a lot more options.

Maybe they suggest the rhodium/ steel combination because it is so stunning and it is a marketing promotional prop for the new 41 in steel. My AD said the rhodium dial is amazing.

I also thought it was strange they hadn't released more dial options as yet. I saw black, white and rhodium only.

for a one and only, the Sub hands down. If for example I already Owned a 116710, I would go with the DJ41

I voted sub as first, but it would be nice to add 41 later on (on my list).

The DJ41s are beautiful but they're going for a premium since they're new. The smooth jubilees are priced ok but the fluted bezel models are going for too much. I would love a blue or rhodium dial fluted 41 on a jubilee. They look stunning. Give it a few years and you'll be able to pick them up cheap like the DJ2s right now which are really a bargain especially for those who would buy a DJ41 on an oyster. I don't think the nearly $3k price difference is justified for thinner lugs, bezel and smaller indices. Any Submariner is a better choice if value retention is important to you. This doesn't mean people should just buy sports especially if you really like the Datejusts but it's something to keep in mind depending on how many watches you have and if you ever feel like you might want to sell it. Also Rolex probably will release a 41 down the road with a concealed clasp and that will cause these to depreciate. The oyster clasp is not a problem on the Oyster but it sticks out on the jubilee. Perhaps not as bad on SS as it does with the TT 41s.

Edit: Just read you didn't like the proportions of the DJ2. They are better on the DJ41 for sure but I would really try to find a store that has both so you can compare them. I personally don't feel like the premium for the 41 is worth it unless you want the jubilee bracelet.

2 very different watches really! I prefer the Subs over any DJ I've owned, so that's my vote! Which one do you see yourself wearing?

Always sub.... until you have six or more of them. Then consider trying some others.

Another vote for the Sub.

I previously bought a DJ2 slate dial with green Romans. Didn't last for a year, decided to take the hit and bought a Hulk and have been happy with that decision.

Glidelock

I have the SubC and I love the glidelock. But once you have it sized (unless you dive like I do, which we know most only desk dive), you are really playing between 2 settings on the glidelock. That is no different than the 5mm micro adjustment I can achieve on my DJ41.

We are not comparing the old and new Sub clasps here, so the claim that the glidelock is what tips the scale in favor of the SubC is something I personally don't understand. Arguably, the SubC clasp is too big and just not as comfortable as the DJ41 clasp - that I can confirm.

So in this specific comparison asked by the OP, I don't agree that the glidelock is the deal breaker for me. If I had to chose ONLY 1 it would be the SubC but for many other reasons than the glidelock clasp.

Cheers

Bought a Sub Date 4 weeks ago. Bored with it. Dull monochrome thing with stupid numbers all round the bezel only a diver would find useful!

Got bitten (brainwashed) by the "it's the iconic Rolex" bug.

P/Ex'd now for the REAL icon, a thing of beauty...

Whichever calls to you the most. Both are beautiful but my choice would be the Sub. I love the deep black bezel and the dial markers.

Sub is true Sport watch; DJ is not a true dress watch or a true sport watch either; beautiful though ....I think Sub has to picked first and then depending of you have you can decide your next step

I use the SubC bezel for timing things, try it it's pretty cool. But I do dive also

Based on what you said, one would argue the DJ is the first since it's a blend of dress and sport. If one is indecisive, it may be the (I personally think it is) the best all rounded watch ever made. 2 birds 1 stone

It depends, if you have a 3-4 watch collection: 1 dressy , 1 sport and 1 power watch then an in between choice is redundant, like I said it depends of what you have.
