Accuracy of Sky Dweller
Hi all,
Can you please advise how accurate the GMT time is? I killed some time at an AD in Paris (airport) today and I asked for the SS SD in black as I can't wait for my AD in San Francisco to call me... Well, the AD told me that the GMT function of the GMT Master is always 100% accurate but the Sky Dweller is sometimes a little bit off (in terms of showing the exact GMT time). I was questioning it as he may just wanted to sale what he had in stock but any help and advise from this forum would be appreciated as I want to add a GMT watch to my collection. Thank you, Alex |

On the Sky Dweller the GMT ring is only a 24 hour reference to the home time hours. The watch hands track local time and provide the accuracy for minutes and seconds. It makes no sense that what the AD told you. The seconds are accurate to +/- 2 sec. per day.

Most AD / sales don't know much about anything besides prices from the book and model names.

Yes...it's a known fact that the Sky Dweller's movements are highly unreliable and fail to keep accurate time...well, on all levels actually!
I suspect that soon the public in general will figure this out and the Sky Dweller's Grey market value will plummet well below retail! This should allow me to pickup hoards of them at discount before anyone figures out my diabolical plan!!! |

The watch has no GMT hand; it has a ring.

At first thanks for all the feedback and please let me be a bit more detailed.
The AD meant that the GMT time is something a bit off, not the watch itself. E.g. could it be 23 o'clock (based on the "real time") but the hour marker is still more at 22 o'clock instead of 23 o'clock. He said the reason is that the minute and hour markers are not exactly "in the middle" of the watch (but they are for the "none-GMT-time". Can anyone confirm or deny that? Alex EDIT: Therefore the AD mentioned that the GMT Master is always 100% accurate as the hour / minute markers are for "both time zones" exactly in the middle (as the GMT is shown on the bezel). |

One time a salesman told me I couldn't set the GMT II to Zulu time and local time. I almost walked out and told him what's the point. About that time another salesman came over and took control. Kids say the darnest things.
