Never sell your first Rolex! Its a really great duo. I would not trade.
You will miss your first Rolex. Trust me. The only watch you can never buy anymore is your first Rolex.
Think carefully.

TT Sub definitely has more pop than SS, however I'd keep the SS and trade the DJ if possible. Keep the SS for one of those days you want to be stealthy..

I wouldn't. If the size is bothering you on the 36, I would swap it for one of the DJ41's...what a watch.

I think I would give it more time before trading and taking the financial hit.

KEEP. Two tone champagne is such a perfect compliment next to the SUB.

Your sub $6000-$6500 cash
Your datejust $5500-7500(more variables)
Tt sub from trusted seller $9850-11000
Leaves a lot of money on the table if you sold your two outright.

Thanks for all of the input, everyone. Definitely got me thinking, especially not selling/trading the Sub-C since it was my 1st Rolex.

I will note, however, that I originally had the itch to buy the TT Black Sub-C as my 1st, but decided on the SS since it was more of a uniform look and could look good with anything. But I can't get the TT off of my mind. Also, I was in Miami one night and on a cruise for a week.. I must have seen about 20 SS Subs vs. 1 TT.

I definitely don't regret my 1st purchase but I do wish I pulled the trigger on the TT instead instead of trying to trade for it now lol.

I personally wouldn't do it. I think the stainless steel sub is the best watch ever made (I'm partial to the ND , but the Date is right up there.) Aesthetically I also prefer the SS Sub. If I had to go TT and had no choice I would go for the blue dial since that sunburst dial is gorgeous.

Obviously you should go for whichever one YOU like the most, but I figured I'd add my opinion since you asked. Let us know what you end up choosing and good luck!

Well if you have your heart set on the TT black sub then you must scratch that itch As for the second part, there is a reason the SS Sub is more popular and that's not a bad thing, unless you are one of those people who must be different

Not a fan of that trade. Lost $'s aside, a single two-tone Sub is not as versatile as the duo you have now.

Thoughts?

You said it there, the TT Sub is what you want. It combines what you already have, but it will sit more on the bling side, you will never have again the stealth and versatility of the 116610 LN. You might loose some bucks on this trade, but 2 excellent models that will be at your disposal for any situation vs one excellent model but less versatile, i think it weights more.
This is why i wait till i can get the reference i want, rather than take some detours with other gorgeous references. It's hard, but it's the right thing to do on the long term

I'm going to go against the grain here. As to the actual deal offered I don't know enough details to answer but swapping two watches you like for one you love with elements you love of both seems to me to be the grail for all of us, everything in one package. Why have two if one can do it all?

Thanks for this perspective, it hits on my original goal which was to have the "one and only" Rolex. The 116613LN covers all bases except the stealth and sunburst dial features. But why try to be stealthy if you own a Rolex? 😂

I definitely understand I have the "perfect pair" and two absolute classics. Submariner and Datejust, Oyster and Jubilee bracelets, Glidelock and hidden clasp, Black and Champagne dials, sports and dress, stainless steel and two-tone. Feels like I've got all bases covered, right? As I wrote this, I'm realizing what a great combo I have but can't figure out why I'm itching for the TT so badly that I'm willing to make this trade, lol.

No. I would flip the 36mm DJ for a DJ41.

I really like the concept of having just one watch that does it all. Not sure TT could work for that, at least for me, but, I say go for it.

Exactly. I feel that a "one and only" Rolex should be a bit "loud" but not over the top. The 116613LN seems to do that and was hoping to get more people who own that reference to weigh in.

As I mentioned before I wouldn't do it but you have to go with what you want to do. One thing I will add, is while the sub and especially the TT sub will go with a suit, the DJ will be absolutely superior in this regard. The sub look will be ok, the DJ spectacular. I think you will miss that if you suit up everyday. Just some food for thought.

I first tried the TT on thinking it was the SS subc, the bright lights of the ADs cancelled out the yellow gold, and I thought damn this watch has some zing to it, and then I realised it was TT! I have owned the black subc twice now and sold it twice, so I'd finally slay this TT beast. I'd try to keep the Champagne if possible.

Don't get me wrong, the black Sub-C is a great watch but I just need it to have a bit more pop to it. I'm reluctant to trade it since it was my first Rolex but we'll see. Have you owned the 116613LN?

This is exactly why I bought the DJ, it does indeed dress up much better than the black Sub-C. I'm going back to the AD next week to see how the TT Sub-C looks with a suit, but I anticipate the DJ will still look more appropriate.

its a tough choice because you really can't go wrong. To have our problems, right?!

I'd say make the leap for the two tone sub. Based on what you're saying it absolutely fits your needs for now. Down the road should you feel the need to bring back in the fold something lower key or smaller you can very easily pick up another 36mm datejust no problem.

I would opt to keep the SS and trade the 36mm to a TT bluesy. One black face and one blue face haha the TT bluesy is Super bling and classy imo
