I went with a sub first. Planning on adding a datejust 41 soon.

I think the datejust 41 is the best model they've made in years.

116610. But if you would have said fluted with jubilee, then my vote would be different.

So now a Submariner is in the ballgame too? We know this is a trade for your SD43.

Literally, in just 2-3 weeks, you've made threads that have went in this order:

1. Just got my SD43! It is the best watch of 2017, I love it, it's a keeper!
2. Idk guys, should I flip my SD43 for a SS Datejust? I really like it.
3. Actually, should I flip my SD43 plus cash for a TT Datejust instead?
4. Should I flip my SD43 for a (back again to the) SS Datejust or a SubC Date?

Said it before and will say it to you again. Just breathe and really think about what you want. Otherwise you're going to end up with something that you're not happy with (again). These are all completely different watches, it seems you haven't truly narrowed down what you're even looking for.

Just trying to give you some advice.....

Trying to decide this as we speak! If I was put on the spot I'll go with steel Datejust 41, but I'm also considering the classic Datejust 36 116234 with white gold bezel. Datejust is versatile, elegantly understated and unlike the Sub C it has a date. Datejust is in my DNA. Its a legend.

I think the results are part of why I prefer the DJ41.

I'm new to all of this but after a great deal of research I decided to buy a DateJust41 and a Hulk. The question is not which one, but which one first. Because I spend a lot of time in a suit and tie I chose this one first, but the other will happen. It's just a matter of when.

Out of the 2 I would definitely take the DJ but it would have to be the fluted bezel but since your option is the smooth bezel I voted Sub

I'm in the similar situation wearing suits a lot. Watch goes well either way!

I'd get the sub first, then the DJ second if I were you. The thing is you can easily live with a sub as your only watch (if we are sticking to the 116610 as you mentioned) because it's all black. Now while you can get a DJ41 in steel with a smooth bezel, I'm sorry but quite frankly that is about the most boring looking Rolex out there and you will get bored quickly. This means that the DJ needs to have some colour. The blue or rhodium dials are both amazing, but are hard to own as a one-piece collection because they really aren't all that versatile. Get the sub first...but follow it up with one of these DJs ASAP.

It was down to these two for my 40th and even went as far as leaving with the DJ41 (love the rhodium dial!), but the PCL's and smooth bezel wouldn't have held up to my lifestyle.

So I returned the next day and took home the 114060. I have beat my 16710 up in its 16 yrs and know that the Sub can take the same type of abuse. Solve it all and get both!
