Astronauts OMEGA for sale?

Just caught a snippet on the radio, that one of the original Omega's that travelled to the moon, and given to a Sheik, is up for sale in the UK.
Couldn't find anything on t'internet.
Sounds like an interesting story.

Apologies, if this is old news.

Interesting. I'm not saying it couldn't have happened, but it's somewhat unlikely. IIRC, all the flight watches were considered government property and several have ended up in museums. It's quite possible that it was a CM Pilot's watch, not one worn on the lunar surface.

I've just read on SKY News that it's a Speedmaster gifted to the Shah of Iran by the Apollo 11 crew on there post flight world tour in 1969.
It was then Re-gifted a couple of times.
Interesting life it's had.

Nice! Didn’t the Shah of Iran get given the first Royal Oak?

You can find some of the story and pictures on SKY News website.

Sky says:
"The watch is set to go under the hammer at Gardiner Houlgate in Corsham, Wiltshire on 19 February and could fetch as much as £15,000".
