Need help

Was in selfridges with the wife so to kill some time while she looks at shoes I wondered over to the watch gallery and found myself drawn to the Hublot concession. What is it about these wathes that makes them so popular, it feels like over the past couple of years they seem to be on the wrists of a lot of celebrities. Is it clever marketing? I always thought they were a poor mans AP ROO. but there not exactly cheap.

Is the movement any better than a Panerai? I've always been a Rolex guy and doubt I will ever own a Hublot, but there is something about the I like. Anyone own one and a Rolex or are they for the more fashion conscious WIS?

Not many Hublot fans around here. I can't be bothered with them, overpriced and sort of AP imitations IMO.

Depending on the model, you could be paying $18KUSD for a watch with a (modified) ETA Valjoux 7750 Movement. That's not something that I can stomach.

If you pony up for the King Power models, they come with the Hublot 'in house' UNICO movement. Personally, I can't wear the King Power model since the 48mm case looks silly on my 6.5in wrist. The 48mm B04 GMT from Breitling also looks too big on me. Interestingly enough, I tried on a PAM372 (47mm) while in Cozumel last week and it looked pretty good. Surprise, surprise.

Anyways, just my .02.

Lots of money into marketing I'd say...come from nowhere and not the best looking watches.

Great marketing and great customer service.

Good watches.

Not for everyone.

I had one and enjoyed it (Bullet Bang) but after a while I got tired
of it and traded it on for something else (can't recall what but I am
sure its gone now as well hahaha)
