I agree that the Day-Date is the Crown Jewel, but my Dad wore a Date-Just most of his life so I have great love for the watch; it is a true classic Rolex. I, too, love the gold!

While the all gold DD is absolutely beautiful I think for myself it's just too much. I prefer the more laid back look of the TT DJ. The all gold DD when worn with just a Tshirt & jeans will stand out like a sore thumb while the TT DJ blends in nicely with a more classy casual look.

Most non-WIS people cannot distinguish between Day-Date and Datejust. They are just all "Rolex" to them.
But to us WIS, the difference is mainly about the materials, the bracelet, and of course the day display. But I don't think there's a qualitative difference between the calibres 3235 and 3255; only a functional difference due to the day display. |

My $6000 vesrion of a date just works for me as a more dresdy watch without being over the top. Not near a DD but fills a nice role. Flutted wG bezel, Romans and great blue dial give a more formal feel.

Love my TT DJ2, but if I went for a Day Date it would be a white gold vintage reference from the ‘60’s or ‘70’s.

Get both. A DD can’t be substituted with a DJ
