Datejust or GMT BLNR

Hi all,

I currently have an OP 39 in rhodium. I am looking to add another watch to my collection but not sure what to add. I mainly wear suits and ties to work so I was either thinking of wearing the OP 39 for dress and a GMT BLNR for casual OR I could do a Datejust 41 for dress and the OP 39 for casual.

My only concern is if the Datejust 41 is a bit redundant with the OP 39. My wife thinks the GMT BLNR adds a bit more to the OP 39 I have in being a bit more different as she thinks the Datejust and OP seem similar.

I’ve tried both on and love the look of both as I want to add a jubilee bracelet to the collection for sure.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

I assume, grey or "used" ? My vote is BLNR, like you said, you have a similar watch. Plus even with a suit a BLNR doesn't look at all that bad.

I think in a smaller watch collection < 3, I would say the DJ41 may be a bit redundant as it styles similarly to your OP. I would go for the BLNR. Sporty look yet can be dressier when you need it with the jubilee bracelet.

Good mix. Get it!

Good point. That’s why I though the BLNR looked good with the jubilee to dress it up a bit. One of my ADs had the BLNR for himself and let me try it on.

I have a DJ41 (Jubilee smooth blue baton) and ideally would add a BLNR next for weekend and casual.

I think the DJ works well with a suit, less so casual. And opposite with BLNR.

So I would go BLNR in your shoes. But you will pay a lot more unless you can get a BLNR from and AD.

I'm biased, but firmly believe the GMT is one of the best, most versatile pieces you can get!

Another vote for BLNR! It is very versatile and will add variety to your collection. With the OP and DJ, you will likely favor one and tire of the other, as they are very similar.

Looks like the wife was right. BLNR seems to be the better option. Now if my AD can just get one in.

if you can get the blnr . get it .. and then sell it and buy a datejust 41. but if u want a dress watch i would look somwehre else. there is nothing dressy about the datejust 41. its a sport watch. hence the name oyster perppertual. if you are intersted what oyster stands for google it. but in short it stands for a sport case. of course these are all beautiful watches .. but if somebody would wear a date just and a suit i would see it as classless. if u want a sport watch get a cellini. or glashutte senator exc. otherwise these are all sport watches. but between the blnr and the date just 41. def go with the 41. its much more elegenat. if u can get a "rare" watch i would go with the hulk. the gmt is however more useful and is a better watch due to a complication. and i guess its a bit more scratch resistant. datejust on a jubille will be lighter.. and if u get it on with a smooth bezel it will be cheaper

no they dont. they are both great watches. but both are just sport watches. its like having the same watch one with time only and one is with the date and gmt function. go get a dress watch . thats just my opinion

well if that doesnt look bad .. unless you are a pilot.. then why not just wear the op39 with a suit right ? like u can wear anything. but the gmt is a sport watch with a complication. it is a nice watch .. but it doesnt look right with a suit. suit watches come on leather. suit watches are usually smaller and not sporty. the gmt is very sporty with those lugs and brushed case. the blingy braclet doesnt make it dressy.

Agree. If you can get a BLNR even close to MRSP that would be amazing

Both are great watches but in your situation I would go with a gmt on jubilee. It is very versatile watch and with jubilee it would fit to suits perfectly.

Sell the OP, and then get the datejust and the BLNR.
