Pam 368

I was down at the AD today. Unfortunately it wasn't a friendly, browsy visit - I took my 190 in for a service (eventually) and I know that's going to cost me arms and legs.

Anyway, spent some time looking at what they had - they had a 368 in the collection for sale. Wowsers. It must be the perfect Panerai. It looked good enough to take home, but the $19,500 price tag (before negotiation) kept it firmly in the shop. Can anyone that has one show me some pics and give me their thoughts on this watch?

I had to laugh too: we were talking/looking through the models and they also had a 372 there. The dealer picked it up and was looking at it. I asked: do you like that one? He said no. It is just too Panerai for me. I burst out laughing. Never heard anyone describe it like that.

368 is my grail - I love that watch! I've only seen one owner here on TRF.

Too Panerai?

Isn't that what Panerai is all about?? Maybe he just doesn't like the whole brand??

I like the 368 but still unsure of the destro crown..needs a little getting used to

I own a 217 and I absolutely love it. Its my favorite modern Pam. Very comfortable to wear on the left hand

If you are interested in a 368, there are discounts to be had...I see them everywhere.

I don't own a 217, but I sure love it just like 368. Can you post some photos of your 217?

Cheers!

Yeah, I have seen them in great shape around the $14-$15k mark. But still a big chunk of change.

I agree about the high price. You could probably get a LNIB for 13k or less. But if the 8 days does not make a big difference to you, I think the 372 at ~8.5k is definitely a better buy.

Great sales technique... that would put the diehard 'ristis into a tailspin...

The 368 is a very nice piece, but the price is a tad optimistic...

both are stunning. The Price Development depends how the Panerai Hype
develops in the Future.

Certainly would. The owner wears Rolex and from what I've seen the guy I spoke to is also a big Rolex fan. They both seemed to get some enjoyment when they asked me which watch in my line up I was getting the most use out of on a day to day basis and my answer was Sub C.

Rest easy though - the Panerai is not far behind.

Love it! Never payed much attention to it until I checked one out at my AD.
Didn't want to take it off.
The price tag is a bit much imo. Would rather have a 372 at nearly half the price.

I agree at 2x the 372 price, the 372 is the better buy. Especially since the look is very similar and I doubt a casual observer will spot the difference.

But the 368 has a few ups over the 372:
- Ti case
- destro (makes it a bit more exclusive)
- 8 day movement.

These are probably worth $2-3k all up.

So I'd say at around $11 or $12k the 368 would be a winner.

I can see why it is one of your favorites.
BTW, I seem to remember you were going to be adding to your collection recently. Any new photos of the most recent additions?
Cheers!

I had a dealer sell a mint one for 12k.
Not double a 372...
But I wouldn't get one...

Yikes!!!!! How did you manage to say no to that? Certainly 'worth' $12k IMHO.

yes, that is a great price. My local shop has one for 15.5K before negotiation.
Wish I had the cash.
