Fake bracelet

I recently purchased 15500 from the grey market, reputable seller. Watch is authentic, I’ve confirmed that. But it got me thinking about the bracelet. The fit and finish are perfect, so I have zero reason to think it’s fake, but how can that be confirmed? I believe the 4 digit number on the bracelet is consistent on all of them. Not sure why anyone would switch a fake bracelet onto the watch, except I suppose they could separately sell it for extra cash... sorry if a silly question. Just curious...

Fake bracelet

You can post some photos of it here and if there are deviations vs. usual AP quality you’ll get some feedback.

As you say, the bracelets sell independently - so money to be made by some machevellian type.

If the dealer was legit and you are confident the watch is ok, no reason to suspect the bracelet would have been swapped out.

If you want to know for sure, then send it into AP for checking.

Does it come with any documentation like warranty booklet and box etc? Do you have chance to verify the serial number with warranty booklet if any?

The AP Royal oak bracelet is well built and you can immediately tell if it is authentic or not when you have one in hand.

The person confirmed the authenticity of your watch, did or didn’t confirm the authenticity of the bracelet?

Post pics when you’re able to.

15500ST or 15500OR?

If it is 15500ST, I doubt that it gonna be fake. It isn't worth for them to risk their reputation. The money is worth a lot more on watch not the bracelet.

If it is 15500OR, you can weight the whole watch and compare with the real one. The real rose gold should weight more than plated rose gold.

Sorry this was less a question about my watch and more just generally. I guess weighing it would be the only way outside of inspection.

I had purchased an OEM bracelet from a grey dealer. I took it to a boutique and they thought it was real.. But to confirm they suggested sending to Clearwater--- and it turned out to be fake.. a good one but fake

That’s absolutely crazy.

I have always thought this would be an easy way to rake a few thousand - not that it would be easy to fake convincingly, but it would certainly be easier than faking the watch.

I’ve been buying, trading and selling with two to three trusted sellers here for about 12-years years now and never had an issue. But one thing I will say is that I feel some of their watch quality has declined a little due to them focusing more on volume and turn. It’s not them per se but some on their incoming merchandising they resell IMHO should have never been accepted in the first place. So paying attention to the details is more important than it used to be to avoid little unknown surprises.
