Truly crazy prices.

Do you think that the bubble could ever burst on this segment of the watch market?
IE - A Paul Newman no longer being worth +£100k etc?
Of course, in case of a huge crisis, war and other things, no reason why watches would keep their prices.
For the 1518 is is crazy, I mean 11 million??? Come on, way overpriced IMO, but I guess it's like art and other things, value is in the eye of the beholder and as long as people are ready to pay insane prices for a painting or a watch, prices will hold...

Not necessarily, a few were built by french architects outside of France, does it qualify as a french castle if french people built it but it's not in France, not sure...
A few years ago I think it was japanese who bought castles in France, had them totally taken apart, and put back together in Japan, but since then I think they voted a law forbidding this kind of thing...

Great question, and the ultra-thin did have some problems due to the fragility of thinness and people who wore them and used them like timepieces were 'bending' the case.

The more that things change, the more they stay the same. Perhaps that's why i changed to Rolex for my collection. Can beat the cr.. out of them, swim with them, go to Disney for the weekend without any fear and she just keeps working. Bezel and all still look fine after many months as a daily beater.

Yesterday a 1518 was auctioned for CHF 3.38m, well above the reserve price. Details here https://www.phillips.com/detail/pate...pe/CH080120/38
