3235 Movement Size in DJ36 and DJ41

The DJ36 got the 3235 movement after the DJ41 came out with it. Are these movements exactly the same, specifically the same size despite the case size difference? Thanks for allowing me to display my ignorance.

I'm also wondering if the movement for the DJ36 has been prone to the same "lubrication issue" as with the initial production of the 3235 for the DJ41.

Yes they're the same, it just has more space in the 41.

And yes, same movement, same issue.

Thanks, Bas. Once properly lubricated, does the issue seem to be resolved for good?

Unfortunately not.

They need to roll out an update to fix it during a service. And as of now extra lubrication is the only 'solution' to that seconds wheel pivot wearing out.

Very interesting. Do you think all 3235s will develop this issue sooner or later or are only some affected?

One last question from me please. To your knowledge, is Rolex aware of this issue or even acknowledged it? Thanks, Bas.

Not a silly question at all Ron.

Now some some would claim the extra case size is unnecessary ala SD43. I personally think it’s functional and makes for variety and is great for folks who like larger watches YMMV

To watchmakers yes, and the technical instructions were slightly changed as you'll need to give more lubrication at that spot.

They would never communicate this stuff to AD's or customers.

Most if not all will develop this issue, depending on how much you let it run. Not all will develop this quickly though, I'd think between 5-10 years in when you can really expect it happen.

Just like the rotor axles on the older movements, they sometimes wear out within 2-3 years, and some easily run 10+ years.

Was’t the rotor axle an issue after they updated the oiling instructions. It was the clear grease in the past and later it was changed to the HP1000 oil. After that update the rotoraxle came in much more often for service if I remember well from my own practice.
