Want to know more about 14790/military watch

Hi!

Recently, I found an interesting watch, Audemars Piguet 14790 military dial. This is the first time that I see a military dial watch from Audemars Piguet and I think this is really special.

But I am curious about why military watches’ hour hand are always in that shape. (Like Rolex milsub, Patek Philippe 5524, Audemars Piguet 14790 military dial...) Does anyone know the reason?

Also, I’d like to know is the 14790 (36mm case diameter) too small for my 7” wrist?

Thank you!

Hi I own this RO and indeed I find the arrow hand and Arabic hour markers are special and the strong green lume is awesome and glow like torch in dark.

I find the 36mm is perfect for my 6.75” wrist size. It is very comfortable due to the slimmer case.

Can you post some photos of your 14790 on wrist? Since I’m afraid it would be too small for me.

I absolutely adore the 36mm references and have owned the 14790st and the 15190ip. Here are pics on my 6.5 to 6.7 inch wrist (depending on temp)

Note that the slim profile of bracelet and case thickness is very much like the jumbo and makes it very comfortable. It wears very similar to a Daytona.

That means it is bigger than 36mm explore/datejust? I own the Daytona C, is it feels like the 14790?

Seems the dial of your 14790 is different from the one that I found in Chrono24. The one that I saw in Chrono24 doesn’t have tapisserie dial.

I would do anything for one of these as New Old Stock. I think they are fantastic!

It’s a great looking piece - really like the numeral dial

The 14790st is the regular military. The one I have on top is the platinum bezel Nick Faldo limited edition 15190sp.

I have owned both and recently sold the 14790 and bought the 15190- you can’t go wrong with either

The lug to lug is similar to the Daytona C but the dial is smaller

It is hard to find a NOS. But I found one in Chrono24 come with box and paper and little scratches, but I am okay with this.

There’s also the 14800ba military dial on leather strap. The strap/bracelets are not exchangeable with the 14790. Same dial and movement. I love mine as the Arabic dial on a RO is just cool and unique to me. Also at 7.5mm thick it’s super comfortable

You don't have to be affraid of the size. My wrist is 7" and it looks great! It's the most comfortable watch I've ever had.

Here are the pics to compare with BLNR (40mm) and GS SBGA031 (44mm)

The 15190SP is a great watch, and I really liked the display case back. Did you get the golf clubs that originally came with it?
